The Department of Trade and Industry – Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) successfully conducted a Capability Building on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the Processed Food Industry of Zamboanga City on June 3, 2026, at the DTI-ZCO Conference Room.
The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and competencies of local processed food manufacturers on the principles and requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices, which are essential in ensuring food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance. The training forms part of DTI-ZCO’s continuing efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of local MSMEs and prepare them for broader market opportunities.
Participants were oriented on the fundamental GMP standards, including proper sanitation and hygiene practices, facility requirements, personnel management, process control, documentation, and quality assurance systems. The discussion emphasized the importance of maintaining consistent production standards to ensure that food products are safe, reliable, and compliant with applicable food safety regulations.
The conduct of the training reflects DTI-ZCO’s commitment to empowering local enterprises through capacity development initiatives that promote innovation, productivity, and compliance with industry standards. The Department of Trade and Industry – Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) formally signed separate Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) with two Shared Service Facility (SSF) cooperators, namely the Zamboanga Market Stall Operators, Inc. (ZAMSO) and the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center III (AVRC III), for the implementation of two (2) SSF projects aimed at enhancing productivity, improving product quality, and expanding livelihood opportunities in the city.
The MOA signing marks the partnership between DTI-ZCO and the cooperators for the Upgrading of Salt Iodization Center project under ZAMSO and the Upgrading of Facilities in Bag-Making and Garment Production for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) project under AVRC III.
Through the Upgrading of Salt Iodization Center project, ZAMSO will be provided with modern equipment and facilities that will improve the efficiency of salt iodization processes, enhance product quality, and support compliance with national standards on iodized salt production. The project is expected to strengthen the local salt industry and contribute to ensuring a steady supply of quality iodized salt for consumers.
Meanwhile, the Upgrading of Facilities in Bag-Making and Garment Production for Persons with Disabilities seeks to enhance the production capabilities of AVRC III by providing improved equipment and technology for its bag-making and garment production operations. The project aims to empower persons with disabilities by creating greater opportunities for skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship, enabling them to participate more actively in economic activities and improve their quality of life.
“ Through strategic partnerships with our cooperators, we aim to improve productivity, create employment opportunities, and strengthen local industries while ensuring that vulnerable sectors, including persons with disabilities, are empowered and given opportunities to thrive,” DTI-ZCO Provincial Director Grace DC Aduca stated.
The MOA signing signifies a shared commitment among the partners to ensure the successful implementation, proper management, and sustainability of the facilities, ultimately contributing to the economic development of Zamboanga City and the advancement of its local enterprises and communities.

The Department of Trade and Industry – Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) announces that all applications for Promo Permits and Repair Shop Accreditation will now be processed online through the DTI Integrated Registration Information System (IREGIS), in line with the agency’s commitment to digital transformation and ease of doing business.
The shift to online processing aims to provide businesses and service providers with a more convenient, efficient, and accessible platform for securing the necessary permits and accreditations. Through the DTI IREGIS portal, applicants can submit requirements, monitor the status of their applications, and receive updates without the need for multiple visits to DTI offices.
Promo Permit applications are required for businesses conducting sales promotion campaigns, while Repair Shop Accreditation ensures that repair and service establishments comply with applicable standards and regulations, thereby promoting consumer protection and service excellence.
DTI-ZCO encourages all concerned businesses, establishments, and service providers to familiarize themselves with the DTI IREGIS platform and transition to the online application process. The initiative supports the government’s broader efforts to modernize public service delivery and create a more business-friendly environment.

The Department of Trade and Industry Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) continuously intensifies its efforts in empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the conduct of various developmental activities aimed at enhancing productivity, market competitiveness, and digital readiness among local entrepreneurs and farmer groups.
As part of its Shared Service Facility (SSF) monitoring activities, DTI-ZCO conducted an on-site monitoring and assessment of the SSF project of the Masaba Farmers Association in Sitio Masaba, Bunguiao, Zamboanga City. The monitoring activity aimed to evaluate the operational status, utilization, and overall impact of the SSF assistance on the association’s production capabilities and livelihood generation. DTI-ZCO also provided guidance and recommendations to ensure the sustainability and effective management of the facility.
In line with its commitment to strengthen entrepreneurial knowledge among farmers, DTI-ZCO also conducted a Seminar on Basic Marketing for rubber farmers in Sitio Masaba, Bunguiao. The seminar equipped participants with practical knowledge on product marketing, customer relations, pricing strategies, and market opportunities to help improve the profitability and competitiveness of their products.
Recognizing the growing importance of digitalization in business operations, DTI-ZCO likewise conducted an Orientation on Digital Payments, E-Commerce Platforms, and Website Creation for SSF Cooperators. The activity aimed to introduce MSMEs and cooperators to digital business tools and online platforms that can help expand their market reach, improve customer convenience, and enhance business operations in the digital economy.
Meanwhile, DTI-ZCO Negosyo Center also participated in the celebration of the 128th Philippine Navy Anniversary at the Western Mindanao Command Gymnasium. During the activity, DTI-ZCO promoted its various programs and services for MSMEs, including business registration assistance, entrepreneurial development programs, financing facilitation, and consumer education initiatives. The information fair served as an avenue to further raise awareness on the government support available to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
Through these initiatives, DTI-ZCO reaffirms its commitment to continuously provide relevant programs, capacity-building activities, and market-oriented interventions that will help strengthen local MSMEs, farmer associations, and cooperatives toward inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

The Department of Trade and Industry – Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) continues to strengthen its consumer protection and education initiatives through the conduct of Consumer Education and Information Campaigns in far-flung barangays of Zamboanga City.
The activity aims to bring consumer-related information closer to communities, particularly those in the rural barangays, by educating residents on their rights and responsibilities as consumers. Discussions focused on the 8 Consumer Rights, fair trade laws, product standards and safety markings, price awareness, and the proper channels for consumer complaints and redress.
A key highlight of the campaign is DTI-ZCO’s continued drive to actively engage the youth sector through partnerships with barangay Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials. By involving young leaders in consumer advocacy initiatives, the office seeks to strengthen awareness among the youth and encourage their participation in promoting consumer welfare within their respective communities.

The Department of Trade and Industry – Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) continues to intensify its price monitoring activities in various markets, supermarkets, grocery stores, and retail establishments throughout Zamboanga City to ensure that the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) remain compliant with the latest Suggested Retail Price (SRP) Bulletin issued by the Department of Trade and Industry.
During the inspections, monitoring teams compare prevailing market prices with the prescribed SRPs and remind retailers and store owners of their responsibility to comply with existing fair trade laws and regulations.
In preparation for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027, DTI-ZCO also monitors the prices of school supplies in bookstores, supermarkets, and other retail establishments. Items such as notebooks, pad papers, pencils, ballpens, crayons, erasers, sharpeners, and other basic school necessities are being checked to ensure that prices remain reasonable and affordable for students and parents during the back-to-school season.
Consumers are encouraged to stay informed about the latest SRP Bulletin and to report any irregularities or violations observed in the marketplace.
