Neither the PML-N has any vote bank in Sindh, nor does the PPP have any in Punjab, yet both parties have been jointly ruling the federation for the past three years. One holds the presidency and the other the prime minister’s office. There is no real conflict between them; it’s merely a show a “Noora Kushti” (staged wrestling match).
Through this drama, the PML-N wants to show its voters in Punjab that it is defending Punjab’s interests, while the PPP wants to convince its voters in Sindh that it is safeguarding Sindh’s interests. In reality, this is nothing more than a staged performance for their own political gains. The system in Sindh continues as it always has, and the stench of corruption still rises from Punjab.
