Vice Chancellor chaired a high-level meeting focused on academic quality, examinations, affiliation processes, and quality assurance reforms across the university and its affiliated colleges.
Key agenda points included the effective implementation of the HEC Quality Assurance Framework 2023, strengthening of institutional quality cells, timely conduct of final examinations, formation of Boards of Studies for Allied Health Sciences programs, and resolution of pending affiliation cases.
The meeting also emphasized conducting orientation and training programs for affiliated colleges to enhance academic standards.
Dean Faculty of Life Sciences and Director QEC Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq presented a detailed briefing on IQEC, IPR, and ongoing initiatives aimed at improving academic quality and institutional performance.
The Vice Chancellor reaffirmed KIU’s commitment to ensuring high-quality education, strengthening governance systems, and achieving national and international academic excellence through timely reforms and effective implementation.

Girls Hostel has officially received a solar-powered water filtration plant after the successful completion of a one-year trial period. The project was initiated by to ensure clean drinking water for students.
The system, installed under the supervision of HHRD focal person Mubashir Alam in collaboration with the YEC-KIU team, operates entirely on solar energy, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly solution.
At the handing-over ceremony, Provost KIU Dr. Qamar Abbas appreciated HHRD’s efforts, calling it a strong step toward clean water access and environmental responsibility.
Officials from the Girls Hostel and the Department of Food and Agriculture highlighted the project’s positive impact on student health, safety, and well-being. HHRD representatives emphasized their commitment to delivering sustainable humanitarian solutions to remote communities.
The successful trial has confirmed the plant’s technical efficiency and long-term value for the university community.

VC KIU participated in the 3 day Curriculum Review meeting of National Committee at National University of Technology (NUTECH) Islamabad. Rector NUTECH Gen Moazzam Ejaz was chief guest at the conclusion session. This three extensive session, emphasized over the Curriculum of 4 year BS Civil Engg Technology program of National Technology Council. Experts from all provinces participated in the meeting. The review process highlighted the integration of Technology education with modern trends competency based skills of technology graduates. The chief guest highlighted the recent developments regarding streamlining the Engineering Techonlogy education under the ambit of Pakistan Engineering Council and the Technology stream shall be separately registered at PEC. This will ensure the long awaited integration of Engineering and Technology professions with their separate identitiy. It's unfortunate that due to lack of integration, the two important segments are not taking active part in the socioeconomic development of the country. At the end the university shields were given to all the participants by the Rector NUTECH.

The Honourable Minister for Interior, Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Sajjid Ali Baig, along with Dr. Syed Arif Hussain, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor of Karakoram International University (KIU), visited Binary Hub to witness its ongoing contributions to digital transformation and youth empowerment in the region. During the visit, both dignitaries highly appreciated the visionary leadership of Binary Hub Chairman Mr. Tehseen Abbas, acknowledging his remarkable efforts in promoting the IT sector and creating meaningful opportunities for the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan. At the special request of Dr. Syed Arif Hussain, Mr. Tehseen Abbas announced 25 fully paid, six-month internships for recent KIU graduates in IT and Computer Science, offering a stipend of Rs. 30,000 per month. This initiative further strengthens the bridge between academia and industry. The guests commended Binary Hub’s commitment to innovation, skill development, and technological advancement, and assured their full support for future initiatives aimed at empowering youth and accelerating digital progress across the region. Under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Tehseen Abbas, Binary Hub continues to emerge as a leading platform for opportunity, innovation, and sustainable growth in Gilgit-Baltistan. Karakoram International University MS scholar Sabiha Ali from the Department of Chemistry successfully defended her MS thesis under the supervision of Associate Professor Sajjad Ali.
Her research focused on the designing, synthesizing, and testing of bioactive molecules aimed at enhancing stem cell growth. The study also identified strong antioxidant properties in these compounds, highlighting their potential applications in anti-aging agents, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and regenerative medicine.
The research demonstrated promising results in promoting stem cell proliferation and addressing age-related cellular decline, opening new possibilities in bio-organic chemistry and stem cell therapeutics.
Vice Chancellor Attaullah Shah, faculty members, and staff congratulated Sabiha Ali on her remarkable academic achievement and appreciated her dedication and hard work.

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal handed over a financial assistance cheque for 75 deserving students of Karakoram International University during a ceremony held at the KIU Senate Hall.
Senior officials from Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Gilgit-Baltistan and KIU attended the event. Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq thanked the organization for supporting underprivileged students in continuing their higher education.
He appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that the number of scholarships and financial assistance opportunities for KIU students would further increase in the future.

Karakoram International University and Chinese company Nongxi have agreed to enhance collaboration on the cultivation, research, and commercial utilization of medicinal plants in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Under the partnership, Nongxi will establish a modern research center at KIU focused on scientific research and identification of local medicinal herbs and their potential use in modern pharmaceuticals.
The initiative aims to promote research, modern cultivation techniques, natural medicine production, and economic opportunities linked to the region’s rich herbal resources. Officials from both sides termed the collaboration a major milestone for scientific innovation, regional economic development, and sustainable use of natural resources in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Karakoram International University Ghizer Campus successfully hosted the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme distribution ceremony to support deserving students and promote digital education in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The event was attended by Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engr. Amir Muqam as chief guest, along with Vice Chancellor Attaullah Shah, Joint Secretary GBC, faculty members, students, and local administration representatives.
Laptops were distributed among meritorious and deserving students to enhance their academic and research capabilities.
The Federal Minister praised the youth of Ghizer, calling the region a “Valley of Martyrs,” and appreciated their resilience and talent. He reiterated the government’s commitment under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to equipping youth with modern education, digital skills, and research opportunities.

The development of these functional cookies highlights the potential of mycelium-based food products in promoting healthier lifestyles and addressing major health challenges such as cancer and diabetes.
