There are seven lakes in Jutial Nala, Gilgit, and if even one bursts, Khomar, Jutial, Zulfiqarabad, Sakwar, and Sonikot could be destroyed. Disasters are natural, but preparedness can save lives. The government, Aga Khan institutions, and the UN must act now train locals for emergency drills, raise awareness, assess high-risk sites, and install early warning systems to prevent a tragedy.
