Dr. Asmat Ali got retired from Service.

It is clear that Dr. Asmat Ali (DVM graduate of Univ. Of Agriculture Faisalabad) has left an indelible mark on the Livestock & Dairy Development Department of Gilgit-Baltistan. A 35-year and 07 Months tenure is a profound commitment, and the breadth of his roles—from frontline veterinary care to high-level strategic planning—speaks to a rare combination of technical expertise and administrative vision.
Based on the highlights of his career, here is a summary of the legacy he leaves behind:
A Legacy of Service and Innovation
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Dr. Asmat was more than just an administrator; he was the architect of growth for the department. By acting as the "brain" behind the design of projects for both the local Annual Development Programme (ADP) and the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), he ensured that the Livestock sector in GB had the structural and financial support needed to modernize.
Disease Control & Food Security
His roles as a focal point for critical national programs highlight his dedication to public health and animal welfare:
Avian Influenza Program:
Protecting the region from zoonotic threats.
National FMD Control Program:
Safeguarding the livelihoods of local farmers by managing Foot-and-Mouth Disease.
Backyard Poultry Production:
Empowering local communities and improving nutritional security at the grassroots level.

Institutional Connectivity
He served as a vital bridge between the regional department and federal institutions. His close collaboration with the National Veterinary Laboratory and the Animal Husbandry Commissioner elevated the profile of Gilgit-Baltistan’s livestock sector on a national stage.
Professional Excellence
Beyond his technical achievements, Dr. Asmat set a standard for workplace culture. His reputation for unwavering punctuality and consistency over three and a half decades serves as a model for civil service.

"His services will remain a landmark for the department"

Dr. Asmat Ali’s transition from Director L&DD GB marks the end of an era, but the projects he initiated and the standards he set will likely benefit the region for decades to come.
