The mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan — from Skardu and Shigar to the breathtaking plains of Deosai — hold a magical charm that attracts adventurers from across the globe. Towering peaks, glaciers, rugged trails, and untouched landscapes make this region a true paradise for hikers, trekkers, and explorers.
However, the recent tragic incident involving a foreign tourist on the Masur Rock Track in Skardu is a painful reminder that behind these magnificent landscapes lie serious and life-threatening risks.
This tragedy is not just the loss of a precious life; it is a wake-up call for all of us. There is a very thin line between adventure and recklessness — and that line is called “safety.”

Many tourists and hikers, especially young adventurers, often underestimate the unpredictable nature of mountain terrain.
• Weather conditions can change within minutes — from bright sunshine to snowstorms or dangerous winds.
• Glaciers may hide deep crevasses beneath seemingly stable surfaces.
• Loose rocks and sudden landslides can turn a peaceful trail into a deadly path.
No matter how experienced a traveler may be, exploring an unfamiliar route without a local guide means putting one’s life at unnecessary risk.

✔️ In emergencies, they know how to respond quickly, provide first aid, and contact local rescue teams without delay.
A local guide is not an extra expense — they are your safety partner in the wilderness.

The purpose of tourism and adventure is to experience life and connect with nature — not to lose life in the process.

We strongly urge tourists, tour operators, and local authorities to promote responsible adventure tourism and strictly discourage trekking or hiking on difficult routes without certified local guides.
True courage is not traveling alone into danger — true wisdom is returning home safely to the people waiting for you.

🏃‍♂️✨ تاریخی کارنامہ — مسعود خان کا ورلڈ ریکارڈ! 🇵🇰

پاکستان کے نامور اور باہمت اتھلیٹ مسعود خان نے خیبر پختونخوا کے شہر پشاور سے سکردو تک 9 دنوں میں 808 کلومیٹر کا پیدل سفر طے کرکے ایک شاندار ورلڈ ریکارڈ اپنے نام کر لیا۔

سکردو پہنچنے پر ڈسٹرکٹ ایڈمنسٹریشن، محکمہ سیاحت، کھیل و ثقافت بلتستان اور نوجوانانِ بلتستان کی جانب سے ان کا پرتپاک اور شاندار استقبال کیا گیا۔

استقبالیہ تقریب میں ایڈیشنل ڈپٹی کمشنر سکردو جناب نثار احمد، اسسٹنٹ ڈائریکٹر سپورٹس بلتستان جناب باقر حسین، اسسٹنٹ کمشنر گمبہ محترمہ انیلہ، اسسٹنٹ کمشنر روندو جناب حسین بٹ، سپورٹس آفیسر سکردو جناب محمد باقر، اسسٹنٹ سپورٹس آفیسر سکردو جناب شاکر سمیت دیگر افسران اور نوجوانوں کی بڑی تعداد نے شرکت کی۔ شرکاء نے قومی ہیرو مسعود خان کو ہار پہنائے، پھولوں کی پتیاں نچھاور کیں اور ان کی بے مثال ہمت، عزم اور محنت کو زبردست خراجِ تحسین پیش کیا۔
