We will welcome you again Insha Allah!
🏔️🇵🇰 Sohniya Babar, a mountaineer from Karachi, Sindh, has made history by becoming the first woman from Sindh to successfully cross the historic Phaghram Pass (5,050 metres / 16,568 feet) in Pakistan's majestic Hindu Kush Range.
Located in Chitral, Phaghram Pass links Laspur Valley (Upper Chitral) with Golain Valley (Lower Chitral) and is regarded as one of Pakistan's least explored and most technically demanding mountain passes. The route is renowned for its glaciers, steep snow slopes, unstable rocky terrain, avalanche-prone sections, and extreme high-altitude conditions.
The expedition also marked a historic national milestone as it became the first successful crossing of Phaghram Pass in 27 years and the first successful crossing by a Pakistani expedition. It was also the first time Pakistani men and women crossed the legendary pass together, opening a new chapter in the country's mountaineering history.
Sohniya Babar's achievement is being celebrated as an inspiring milestone for women in adventure sports, highlighting Pakistan's extraordinary mountain heritage while encouraging greater participation in mountaineering and responsible adventure tourism.
