A Significant Step Forward for ESG Integration into Businesses 🇵🇰

It was a privilege to attend a pivotal seminar on ESG reporting, now a regulatory requirement in Pakistan. The shift from voluntary initiatives to non-negotiable strategic imperatives was the focus and event marked a clear acceleration of that journey.
Integrating ESG into business strategy is no longer just about compliance; it is a direct driver of better performance, profitability, and long-term reputation.
Kudos to IFC - International Finance Corporation and WWF Pakistan for organizing this event, and to SECP Pakistan for their strong support as the regulator. It was particularly insightful to review the guidelines issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and SECP, developed with IFC’s support and aligned with the IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards.
It was valuable to connect with stakeholders across the ESG ecosystem. The diverse participation—from financial institutions, banks, lenders, borrowers, industry leaders, regulators, and fellow ESG consultants—highlighted that this is a collective journey.
A key takeaway for me was the urgent need for capacity building. Effective compliance isn't achieved through policy alone; it requires skilled ex*****on.
ESG Consultants, have a vital role to play—bridging the gap between regulatory frameworks and on-the-ground strategic implementation. The foundation is being laid. Now comes the crucial work of building the capability to deliver. Let’s focus on building the expertise required to turn compliance into competitive advantage.

💧 World Water Day — Every Drop Counts — Before It's Too Late

Pakistan faces a critical water shortage, demanding urgent action to conserve every drop.
While we are blessed with glaciers, rivers, and fertile land, climate change and inefficiency are pushing us from a water-abundant nation to a water-stressed one.
More than 90% of water is used in agriculture, 5% in domestic and 2% in industrial sector.
Pakistan is wasting over 60% of its water, primarily due to an inefficient agricultural irrigation system, aging infrastructure, and poor urban management. Key losses occur through canal seepage (30% loss) and flood irrigation (29% loss). The country faces extreme water scarcity.
About 1% of industrial and 8% of domestic wastewater is treated, resulting in large amount of waste of usable water.
There is dire need to focus on conserving water because it’s the lifeline of Pakistan's food security and agriculture health.
Water is not unlimited. It is life, and in Pakistan, it is vanishing. While we waste water, many face severe shortages. Let’s pledge to save water for our future generations.

Together, we can make Pakistan a water-efficient nation. 🇵🇰

قائداعظم محمد علی جناح — جن کی ثابت قدم قیادت نے اس خواب کو حقیقت میں بدل دیا۔
ہم جب 2026 میں اس دن کو منا رہے ہیں تو پیغام واضح ہے: ہم اپنے اندر سے پاکستان کو مضبوط کرنے پر مرکوز ہیں۔ عالمی معاشی دباؤ اور بیرونی چیلنجز کے باوجود قوم کا حوصلہ بلند ہے۔ اس سال کی تقریبات ہماری قومی یکجہتی، استقامت، اور کفایت شعاری کا عکاس ہیں۔
آئیے آج ہم عہد کریں کہ ایک پرامن اور ترقی یافتہ پاکستان کی تعمیر کے لیے کام کریں گے—ایک ایسی قوم جو اپنے معماروں کی قربانیوں کو مضبوط مستقبل کی صورت میں خراجِ تحسین پیش کرے۔
قائداعظم کے الفاظ میں:

On this Pakistan Day, March 23rd, we reflect on the vision that created our nation. This day marks the anniversary of the 1940 Lahore Resolution—a pledge for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, laying the foundation for a sovereign Islamic welfare state.
We remember the two pillars of our ideology:
Allamah Iqbal, the ideological architect and spiritual founder.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose unwavering leadership turned that vision into reality.
As we mark this occasion in 2026, the message is clear: we are focused on strengthening our country from within. Despite global economic pressures and external challenges, the spirit of the nation stands firm. This year’s celebrations are a testament to our national unity, resilience, and commitment to austerity.
Let us renew our pledge today to work towards a peaceful, developed Pakistan—a nation that honors the sacrifices of its founders by building a stronger future.
