Last week, Hangzhou became the room where Pakistan's tech sector meant business.
The Pakistan-China B2B Conference brought together some of the most ambitious technology companies from both countries for a full day focused entirely on real conversations, real deals, and real outcomes.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Governor of Zhejiang Province Liu Jie opened the conference by highlighting the growing momentum of Pakistan-China economic cooperation and Pakistan's focus on investment, technology transfer, industrial collaboration, and long-term partnerships. The Prime Minister invited Chinese companies to explore opportunities across IT, digital infrastructure, Special Economic Zones, mining, and emerging industries - before the conference shifted into what it was really built for.
Pakistani and Chinese companies spent the day heads-down in back-to-back meetings across AI, fintech, cloud computing, cybersecurity, gaming, telecom, and e-commerce. Chinese companies didn't show up to explore - many walked in with draft MoUs, JV proposals, and partnership terms already on the table.
This was made possible under the leadership of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan, and Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, whose focus on building serious, outcome-driven platforms for Pakistan's tech sector is turning intent into results. On the ground, Pakistan Software Export Board - led by CEO Faisal Jeddy - ensured our companies showed up prepared, connected, and ready to close.
For Pakistani tech companies still on the sidelines, here is what serious engagement looks like. The next opportunity is coming.
