💬 Excerpts from the briefing by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (May 28, 2026):

The 29th St Petersburg International Economic Forum ( ) – traditionally one of the key events on the global economic calendar – is fast approaching. This year, the Forum will take place in St Petersburg from June 3 to 6 under the topic “Pragmatic Dialogue: the Path to a Stable Future.”

The Forum comes at a time of profound change in the global economy and a crisis in the existing model of globalisation. SPIEF 2026 will offer a unique platform for working out practical solutions aimed at sustainable development, strengthening technological sovereignty, and building a fair, multipolar system of interaction.

🤝 Russia, as an integral part of the global economic system, remains open to constructive and equal partnership.

The Forum’s business agenda is divided into five strategic tracks, each addressing key challenges of our time.

❗️As usual, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take an active part in the Forum, with the Ministry’s leadership participating in several sessions.

🗓 On June 4, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin will take part in a roundtable discussion entitled “Union State: Time to Be First.”

🗓 On June 5, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin will speak at the special thematic session called “Russia–APEC: Broad Cooperation Prospects on the Horizon until 2035.”

The Press Department will host a panel session on June 3 entitled “Your Words are Like Bullets: How Information has Transformed into the Most Powerful Weapon of the Modern Era,” and will also take part in a session on “The Limits of Artificial Intelligence in the Media.”

Finally, the next Foreign Ministry briefing will be held on the sidelines of SPIEF.

🇷🇺🇰🇿 Joint Statement by President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the Seven Pillars of Friendship and Good-Neighbourliness between the Peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan (Astana, May 28, 2026)

Today, the world is undergoing profound and rapid change. The system of international relations is facing serious challenges and threats, global instability and a crisis of trust are intensifying, and familiar approaches to ensuring security and sustainable development are being reassessed.

Russia and Kazakhstan are convinced that there is no alternative to building a more just world order – one that opens up opportunities for sustainable development and is capable of placing the international situation on a path towards stabilisation and fundamental recovery.

In such periods, strong and time-tested principles of interstate interaction acquire particular value – principles based on mutual respect, good-neighbourliness, consideration of national interests and equal partnership.

🤝 The bond between our countries rests precisely on these approaches, drawing on close historical ties, mutual support and mutually beneficial cooperation.

In this regard, efforts will be made to strengthen the following pillars of friendship and good-neighbourliness between the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan:

The FIRST pillar – shared history and a responsible approach to its objective interpretation in the spirit of friendship and good-neighbourliness.

The SECOND pillar – joint efforts to develop Eurasian integration and to form a regional space of cooperation, security and dialogue.

The THIRD pillar – the common border as a space of good-neighbourliness and cooperation.

The FOURTH pillar – economic partnership.

The FIFTH pillar – linguistic and cultural diversity as a shared heritage, traditional values and civilisational affinity.

The SIXTH pillar – youth cooperation, educational exchanges and cooperation in sports.

The SEVENTH pillar – a shared vision of the future.

We see the future of Russia-Kazakhstan relations as a space of sustainable and mutually beneficial development, in which our countries act as equal partners, strategic allies and good neighbours.

By consistently strengthening these seven pillars, we are reinforcing trust and stability and expanding opportunities for a worthy future for our peoples.

☝️ We are convinced that the friendship and good-neighbourliness of Russia and Kazakhstan, grounded in a common history and a shared commitment to creation, will remain a reliable foundation for our interstate relations for the long historical perspective.

📜 The Russian Embassy School in Pakistan held an open lesson dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture. The event featured a lecture on the history of the holiday and the pivotal role of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the creation of the first written and literary language of the Slavic peoples, which laid the foundation for modern Russian language and literature.

🖼 As 2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of Lyudmila Verbitskaya, a distinguished Russian philologist, the students were also introduced to a series of posters titled “Let’s Speak Like St. Petersburgers”, created under her guidance.

The author of over 300 scientific and educational works in the field of linguistics, Lyudmila Verbitskaya has made an invaluable contribution to the development of Russian science and education, as well as to strengthening the position of the Russian language internationally.

✨️ On May 22, an online Russian language course for the staff and students of the University of Peshawar was officially launched. The program is organized by the Ural State Pedagogical University (USPU, Yekaterinburg) with the support of the Russian Embassy in Pakistan.

The classes for Pakistani students will be taught by USPU faculty members.

🇷🇺🇵🇰 The launch of this initiative marked the beginning of a promising partnership between two renowned Russian and Pakistani universities and became yet another important milestone in the multifaceted cooperation between our friendly nations.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry statement on strikes by the Kiev regime’s militants against Russia’s civilian population (May 25, 2026)

The gruesome UAV attack carried out by the Ukrainian armed forces on the night of May 22 against the academic building and dormitory of a college of Lugansk State Pedagogical University in Starobelsk, LPR, has become yet another glaring testimony to the N**i and terrorist nature of the Kiev regime, which deliberately strikes civilians and does not stop short of the cold-blooded murder of children.

Zelensky’s junta and its Western sponsors, which supply the Ukrainian military with the means to commit crimes against our people, have demonstrated to the entire world their blatant disregard for international humanitarian law.

This is a direct violation of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols regulating the protection of civilians during conflicts, the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, and a number of other important international instruments.

This has exhausted Russia’s patience.

Under the circumstances, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are beginning to deliver consistent, systematic strikes against Ukrainian defence industry enterprises in Kiev, including specific sites used for the design, production, programming and preparation for use of UAVs employed by the Kiev regime with the assistance of NATO specialists responsible for supplying components, providing intelligence data and target designation.

Strikes will also be carried out against decision-making centres and command posts.

❗️ Given that the above-mentioned facilities are dispersed across Kiev:

👉 we warn foreign nationals, including staff of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organisations, of the need to leave the city as soon as possible,
👉 urge residents of the Ukrainian capital not to approach the military and administrative infrastructure facilities of the Zelensky regime.

✨️ On May 21, Ambassador Albert P. Khorev received the winners of the International Youth Anti-Corruption Advertising Competition “Together Against Corruption” – Islamabad students Hadia Jaffar and Sadia Jaffar – along with their family members.

🥈🥉 In a solemn atmosphere, the ladies were awarded with commemorative prizes bearing the symbols of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation in recognition of their outstanding achievements, securing 2nd and 3rd places in the “Best Poster” category. Their artworks were aimed at promoting anti-corruption awareness and strengthening legal consciousness among the public.
