I had the honour to deliver a keynote address at the inaugural session at , engaging an audience of global investors, multinational executives, government ministers, and national tech leaders.
Speaking at Pakistan’s flagship tech and telecom event, I shared STZA’s vision for a future-ready, knowledge-based economy powered by innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and infrastructure. I highlighted the development of 32 notified Special Technology Zones across the country and outlined how STZA’s fiscal, forex and ecosystem incentives are designed to attract global enterprises and empower local startups.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s emergence as a regional tech destination, I called for stronger public-private collaboration to unlock the country’s full digital and technological potential.

Last week, I had the opportunity to share my Eisenhower Fellowships journey ( ) with a full-house gathering in Islamabad, a journey that, in just 6 weeks, took me across 11 states, 100+ meetings, and countless conversations about the , the , and the .
From academics, government executives, and professionals at Harvard, MIT, the Burning Glass Institute, Chicago Booth, the Brookings Institution, Lumina, General Assembly, Social Finance, the World Bank, Achieve Partners, Mercer, the City of Los Angeles & Philadelphia, and the list goes on... every meeting and every conversation either changed my perspective or broadened it, or added a new dimension.
To be honest, it was intense. Every second day, I had to cross a time zone, switch contexts every meeting, and absorb so much in a very little time. But at the same time, it was also deeply rewarding. I believe it was more of leadership training than a fellowship, focusing on developing resilience, adaptability, and vision.
However, as I dived deeper into the topic, one truth became clear: the first job is collapsing. Entry-level roles are disappearing. But this isn’t the end, it’s the beginning of something new. The future belongs to first experiences, adaptive organisations, and skills that blend human strengths with AI, cloud, green tech, and beyond.
Sharing these lessons today with CEOs, policymakers, and civil society leaders back home was humbling. The energy, engagement, and belief that Pakistan can chart its own path is what gives me hope.

Extremely delighted and honored to share an investment update in Lahore's knowledge and technology ecosystem with a whopping US$ 70 million investment! The Mark STZ aims to facilitate export-oriented technology firms in services, research and development, and product markets.
Pakistan is quickly becoming a supply-side market to the global technology sector due to the availability of highly competitive technical labor at a fraction of the cost elsewhere. The mega-project will accommodate up to 7000-8000 people to work in a single shift.
Foreign and local technology companies often require big spaces with specialized ecosystems that can't be accommodated at present in a single location. This project will facilitate those companies and enable local companies to scale, making it a win-win for everyone.
Congratulations to Lahore on this massive investment and the bright future it promises for the technology industry!

My message was simple: 19th century institutions and mindset cannot enable 21st century . Artificial intelligence has enabled at massive scale and needs to move quick.

Alhamdullilah, extremely honored to lead the new centre from Pakistan side which would help boost S&T , people-to-people, and student-to-student cooperation networks, and build a business-to-business platform for the transfer of and platform.
“Technology sector growth is driven by knowledge, skills, and machines. The China-Pakistan Science and Technology Centre is focused on these three key inputs where startups and youth will get access to Chinese technology companies, venture capital, specialised knowledge, skills of the future, Chinese markets, and cross-border investments,” Hamza Orakzai told Gulf News. He says that the STZA, which supports the development of the tech ecosystem in Pakistan, is committed to enabling international partnerships through engagements with tech-innovation leaders across the world including China, the United States, the Middle East, Europe and Turkey.

Last week, I had the opportunity to interact with Diplomatic Corps and Pakistani foreign missions abroad at MOFA regarding science and technology diplomacy, Pakistan’s labor arbitrage opportunity, ease of doing business and role of to accelerate ecosystem.
The interest from the community was heartwarming and the willingness to take Pakistan to become a technology hub of the was astonishingly strong.
We are a determined nation who have shown phenomenal resilience over the past 70 years and InshAllah in the coming decade, Pakistan’s growth in tech is going to become story of the 21st Century.
The engagement was organised by and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Science and Diplomacy Division.
