Guided by Alejandra Baez, Dr. Natasha Raheja, and Madeeha Raza, attendees explored storytelling as a tool for advocacy, watched the inspiring 37 Words, and developed actionable community plans for change. From breaking stereotypes to championing authenticity in storytelling, these changemakers are set to make a difference!

Over two inspiring days, 30 participants joined Alejandra Baez and Dr. Natasha Raheja to dive into the art of storytelling for sports equality. Through screenings of 37 Words, interactive breakout sessions, and hands-on exercises, participants explored solutions for gender equality in sports—advocating for freedom of speech, authenticity in storytelling, and breaking stereotypes. The workshop wrapped up with a certificate ceremony and networking over tea, leaving our future storytellers ready to make a difference!

Capturing moments from our impactful ‘Filmmaking as an Advocacy Tool’ workshop in Islamabad!
On October 24th, passionate young advocates joined Dr. Natasha Raheja and U.S. Embassy’s Alejandra Baez at the Best Western Premier Hotel for a deep dive into storytelling for social change. Through hands-on guidance, participants learned how to transform ideas into compelling visuals, exploring ways to champion gender equality in sports and drive meaningful conversations in their communities.

Hunza - Where creativity met the mountains!
AFS Pakistan brought the magic of cinema to the Karakoram Area Development Organization. Over two unforgettable days, we screened 3 captivating American films that left our Hunza audiences spellbound. But that's not all! Our star-studded event also featured a riveting workshop led by AFS envoy Izzy Chan titled "5 Simple Steps to Your First Documentary Clip."
With 25 talented students carefully selected, this workshop was all about honing the art of filmmaking, editing, screenwriting, directing, and the power of storytelling in documentaries.
The turnout was INSANE! From local university students to seasoned professionals, Hunza welcomed us with open arms.
Our workshop students didn't just leave with newfound knowledge; they walked away with certificates and AFS merchandise as mementos of this unforgettable experience.
And the creativity didn't stop there! We conducted a hands-on activity where students shared their thoughts on "How can you use filmmaking as a tool for social change?" and "What can Pakistani cinema learn from American cinema?" on the panels.

Two unforgettable days at the Gilgit Serena Hotel, where the magic of American cinema met the passion of Pakistani storytellers.
The American Film Showcase (AFS) Pakistan brought the silver screen to the mountains with 4 captivating American films, pushing the boundaries of creativity. But that's not all! Our talented AFS envoy, Izzy Chan, lit up the stage with her workshop "5 Simple Steps to Your First Documentary Clip," inspiring 25 promising students who were handpicked for this filmmaking journey. The turnout was phenomenal, and the enthusiasm was contagious!
