The PS&DC, Health Deptt, Islamabad organized an orientation session on "Pharmacovigilance, a tool for Ensuring Patient Safety" for Medical Officers of Health Department, Islamabad.

Secy QCB and Focal Person, PV, Islamabad, Sardar Shabbir Ahmed gave a detailed presentation to the participants on importance of ADR reporting for ensuring patient safety.

Ps&DC, ICT is fully committed to perform its regulatory functions inline with its legal mandate.

PS&DC, Health Deptt, ICT held a meeting with Chief Pharmacists and Warehouse Incharges of Public Sector hospitals of Islamabad.

SQCB, Islamabad Sardar Shabbir Ahmed, sensitized the participants regarding importance of Good Distribution & Storage Practices and emphasized for its implementation in true letter and spirit.

In addition, enhancing ADR reporting from public sector hospitals also came under discussion.

The meeting was attended by Chief Pharmacist PIMS, Polyclinic, CDA hospital, NIRM and FGH.

The Secretary (Quality Control), Health Department, ICT, Sardar Shabbir Ahmed, convened a meeting with the IPAS team at the PS&DC office to review ongoing initiatives and future directions with regard to PMAC project.

The involvement of Community Pharmacists in the PMAC pilot project was highlighted as a notable success story, demonstrating meaningful impact at the grassroots level.

Discussions focused on scaling up the project through the inclusion of all Community Pharmacists, with a mutual agreement to undertake concrete and actionable steps to expand its scope and effectiveness.

The IPAS team acknowledged and appreciated the pivotal contributions of pharmacists, as well as the consistent support extended by PS&DC, ICT, in ensuring the project’s success.

This achievement underscores the critical role of community pharmacists within the healthcare system, particularly in advancing health education and strengthening patient counselling services.

PS&DC, ICT remains committed to elevating the professional image of pharmacists and enhancing their role in practical, impactful ways, moving beyond rhetoric to meaningful action.

A special meeting was convened in DRAP to acknowledge and commend the outstanding performance and efforts of the team of PS&DC, ICT in the development and compilation of Quality Managment System and all requisite documents for the WHO audit.

The PS&DC, ICT team under leadership of Sardar Shabbir Ahmed and in collaboration with DRAP team successfully accomplished the pilot project of QMS which shall be replicated/rolled out to other provinces.

The CEO DRAP acknowleged and appreciated the PS&DC, ICT team for this landmark acheivement.

The SQCB/SDI, PS&DC thanked the CEO, DRAP and his team for efective coordination, support and handholding in acheivememt of this crucial milestone.

The Pharmacy Services & Drug Control, Health, ICT held an interactive session with the pharma distributors and PCDA Islamabad and Rawalpindi today at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ICC&I).
Enhancing regulatory compliance and devoplement of joint forum of all relevant stakeholders for redressal of issues of common interests were the major points of discussion.
It was mutually agreed that all the participants shall ensure adherence to prescribed standards and PS&DC, ICT shall provide and ensure supportive supervision in this regard.

Dr. Jean-Christophe, WHO Pharmacovigilance Consultant, accompanied by the DRAP Pharmacovigilance and Quality Assurance teams, visited the Pharmacy Services & Drug Control PS&DC), Health Department, ICT, earlier today.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the existing processes for Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) collection and reporting at the Provincial Pharmacovigilance Centre.

Sardar Shabbir Ahmed, SQCB/Focal Person for Pharmacovigilance, briefed the delegation on the Centre’s operational framework and ongoing activities.

A detailed gap analysis was conducted to align the Centre with WHO standards and to further develop it into a model Provincial PV Centre.

While proposing certain areas for improvement, the visiting team commended the ICT PV Centre for being the highest contributor of ADR reports among all seven Provincial Pharmacovigilance Centres.

SDI/Secretary. Quality Control Board, Islamabad had an interaction with the Community Pharmacists engaged with PMAC Project. A pilot project, initiates by IPAS with the support of PS&DC, Islamabad with the objective of involving pharmacists in patient counselling activities and making them a visible part in healthcare system.

Alhamdolillah
A fleet of 3 dedicated vehicles was received by the PS&DC section today.
The surveilance capacity of the PS&DC shall be strengthened after this accomplishment.
Under a PSDP Project, the PS@DC is being strengthened in terms of HR, screening equipments and vehicles.

Applications submitted on previous portal shall be processed on the same portal and need not to be re-submitted.

Pharmacy Services & Drug Control, Health Deptt- ICT

On directions of the SDI/Secretary, Quality Control Board, Islamabad, a team of PS&DC-ICT conducted market surveillance and screened number of drug samples for detection of any spurious product while using Raman Analyzer at the spot.

Meanwhile two Pharmacies in Gulberg Green area have been sealed for involvement in selling controlled drugs without prescription and absence of pharmacist.

Always purchase any drug from an authorised distributor and with valid warranty.

Warranty is your only protection as now any spurious drug shall be identified by PS&DC at the spot and strict action shall be initiated including registration of FIR and sealing of the premises.

Ist meeting of the ICT Pharmacovigilance Committee was held in Health Department, G 9 Markaz, Islamabad.
The meeting was chaired by Sardar Shabbir Ahmed, SQCB/FP, PV, Islamabad and attended by members including Dr Naseem Akhtar, ID Consultant, Prof Dr.Suleman , Pharmacologist, Dr Nadia Shams, Medical Specialist, Mr Abdul Mateen Dy Director, DRAP, Mr Waqas, Clinical Pharmacist and Ms Amber Basharat, DI/PV Officer.

The Committee took stock of the current ADR reporting situation in Islamabad and took various decisions including requiring all hospitals to appoint dedicated PV Officers, constitution of PV Committees and starting awareness campaigns.

The decisions of the committee shall be implemented to ensure patient safety in Islamabad.
