First of all, I sincerely apologize for being detached from you guys over the past several months due to my domestic engagements. One of the many reasons was that I have lost access to the pioneer page which had over 100,000+ reach and served as a platform to connect with you students across FATA and Balochistan.
:
Dear all, I continue to receive messages from you, your parents, & your seniors, and I fully understand that you have been going through extremely difficult times due to the mishandling of HEC seats by UHS, Lahore and the non-serious and casual attitude of Other provincial health authorities regarding our HEC MBBS/BDS seats and quota.
:
For those of you who are new or fresh candidates, it is important to know that since 2017 there has been a continuous struggle by our FATA and Balochistan students every year to secure our HEC seats.
Back in 2017, after a massive protest in front of the Islamabad Press Club, along with a court case led by our lawyer Babar Sattar, the honourable court finally granted us hundreds of seats, but only as a one time relief. Keeping that as a precedent, in the following years, especially after the merger of FATA through the 25th Constitutional Amendment in 2018, hundreds of students from batches 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and onward were again compelled to protest, organize sit-ins, and engage in political and legal struggle to secure our constitutional rights. We were promised a doubling of educational quota across Pakistan in all fields. And Alhamdulillah, through unity and peaceful struggle, we successfully secured more than 300 MBBS/Bds seats each year.
:
Now, after 6-7 years, we find ourselves once again in the same position.
UHS Lahore, as always, who wastes one precious year of our students by failing to provide timely admissions has committed another serious blunder this year by advertising HEC seats prematurely and without informing HEC. This is a blatant violation of the SOPs governing these scholarships. These 76 seats are HEC seats, how can they be advertised without HEC’s intimation, without HEC merit determination/finalisation, and without proper coordination? However, we did not immediately raise this issue because HEC unofficially clarified that this was a unilateral act by UHS, and that HEC was neither informed nor taken into confidence regarding the advertisement of these seats. So wo jo b kre, hame es se kya.
Nevertheless, all those who secured these 76 seats are our brothers and sisters, and we fully stand with them. At the same time, we will demand an additional 76 or more seats from UHS. Now is the time for us to demand our rightful 333 seats, and we are even pushing for 666 seats. However, as communicated by HEC through email last week, they currently have only around 100+ seats for FATA and Balochistan combined—meaning approximately 50+ seats for each—and most of these seats are communicated by KMU.
#𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:
HEC alone cannot be blamed, as the primary responsibility for seat allocation lies with the provinces and PMDC. Therefore, in order to secure our due rights, the burden of responsibility first lies upon you, the students and parents who are directly affected, and then upon civil society, journalists, bureaucrats, and our political representatives.
?
You must organize yourselves. Form WhatsApp groups, discuss and finalize a plan, conduct meetings in Peshawar and Quetta, and select sincere and committed leadership from among yourselves. Insha’Allah, once this structure is established, we will collectively decide and execute the next phase of action.
For now, due to the current security situation and the imposition of Section 144 (ban on gatherings and assemblies), please avoid coming to Islamabad tomorrow. Once the situation stabilizes, a proper and well-organized peaceful protest in front of the Islamabad Press Club, or any other feasible location, will be finalized after mutual consultation. Our protest will be completely peaceful and within the constitutional framework.
: :
Your seniors are living testimony to the fact that only through peaceful protest and unity, we have secured hundreds of seats in the past. These seats are yours. They have always been yours. Unfortunately, you may have to struggle again, but I assure you that they will be yours, if and only if you remain motivated, united, and disciplined, and follow the guidelines properly.
:
I may not be visibly active on social media, but believe me, I have never abandoned you. Just last week, I personally visited the HEC FATA–Balochistan Project Office regarding this issue, and all the statements mentioned above reflect the crux of my discussion with HEC authorities. We will continue this struggle, and we will secure our rightful seats.
(You are our future. In you, I see a prosperous FATA and a beautiful Balochistan).
May Allah bless you all.
