Under the chairmanship of Worthy Fedral Minister Ahsan Iqbal Sb, the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives has just concluded the final planning session for the launch of a landmark national program for Young Engineers across Pakistan.

After meticulous planning, we’re proud to announce: this is really happening! The wait is almost over—stay tuned for the official launch.

This visionary fellowship is set to transform hope into reality for Pakistan's young engineers, offering:

• 10,000 positions per year to combat unemployment for next 5 years making a total of 50,000 jobs.
• A 50,000 PKR monthly salary for one year
• Capacity Building through free trainings by the Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP)
• A valuable Experience Certificate on completion

The grand launching ceremony, to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister in the last week of January, marks the beginning of a brighter future for our youth and our nation.

And this is how young engineers activists have made it finally for their community

A milestone moment for Pakistan’s engineering future 🇵🇰⚙️

Proud to see the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program making national headlines. With the deployment of 600 young engineers across key public & private sector institutions, this flagship initiative of the PEC marks a decisive shift from rhetoric to real investment in engineering human capital.

GET is not just a placement—it is a structured, fully PEC-funded, house-job–style program designed to bridge academia and industry, equip graduates with hands-on experience, and build an employable, future-ready engineering workforce for Pakistan.

This is how nations are built:
by trusting youth, strengthening institutions, and translating policy into impact.
Proud to be part of this reform journey.

YOUNG ENGINEERS DEMAND IMMEDIATE ACTION ON THIER REPRESENTATION IN PEC

For over a decade, the young engineering community of Pakistan has demanded a fundamental democratic reform within the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Despite being the backbone of the profession—constituting over 70% of the council’s total membership—young engineers remain systematically excluded from the decision-making table.
The current PEC policy mandates a minimum of 20 years of professional experience to contest for a seat on the Governing Body. This restrictive eligibility criterion has created a representation vacuum where policy affairs are managed exclusively by senior or retired professionals who, in many instances, remain disconnected from the contemporary challenges faced by the new generation, such as unemployment, stagnant pay scales, and the evolution of digital engineering.
It is a glaring contradiction that a 25-year-old citizen is constitutionally eligible to contest for the National Assembly of Pakistan and shape the laws of the land, yet a qualified young engineer is deemed "unfit" to represent their peers within their own statutory regulatory body.
This demand is not new; young engineer activists from all provinces across Pakistan have engaged in a relentless and organized struggle to rectify this injustice. These demands have been formally raised on numerous official forums, including several Annual General Meetings (AGMs) of the Pakistan Engineering Council. Despite staging peaceful protests and strictly adhering to all legal and democratic procedures, these pleas have been unlawfully neglected by the competent authorities. This persistent apathy has left the youth with no choice but to escalate their grievances. Let it be a strict warning to the current leadership: the continued irresponsible and unlawful refusal to accept these legitimate demands threatens to damage the very roots of the organization. If the authorities do not act, the young engineers are prepared to take their case to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to seek the justice they have been denied.
Our Demands to the Competent Authorities:
Immediate Policy Relaxation: Amend the PEC Bye-laws to reduce the experience requirement for Governing Body candidates, ensuring dedicated seats for young engineers.
Proportional Representation: Implement a quota system that reflects the actual demographics of the engineering community, giving the 70% youth majority a proportionate voice.
Inclusive Policy-Making: Transition from a "top-down" approach to an inclusive model where young engineers can advocate for modern job creation, paid internships, and fair market wages.
The custodians of PEC must recognize that stagnancy in leadership leads to stagnancy in the profession. We call upon the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Pakistan Engineering Council leadership to take immediate notice of this long-standing grievance.
The future of engineering in Pakistan depends on the energy and innovation of its youth. It is time to let the young engineers lead, contribute, and secure the future of the engineering community and the nation.

This is what we refer to as the Agent Mafia, a system we've been highlighting for over a decade. These agents offer services that are officially the responsibility of PEC, but due to limited accessibility, engineers and members are forced to rely on them. Agents have connections with PEC officials, facilitating the processing of cases and approvals in exchange for a fee from engineers or members. In return, agents allegedly pay bribes to involved officials.

Meanwhile, PEC's office phone numbers are often unreachable, and emails go unresponded. This deliberate inaccessibility drives people to agents, who profit from the situation. This system has been entrenched since PEC's establishment.

Elected members often prioritize personal relationships and vote-buying over genuine representation. Many engineers are complicit in this system, which perpetuates inequality and corruption. To break this cycle, individual engineers must take a stand or accept the status quo. Before casting your vote, consider the implications of supporting this system.

Dear Engineers! Think Before you vote

News for Young Engineers in Pakistan!

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has officially approved the formation of the Young Engineers National Forum (YENF) — a groundbreaking initiative to empower, unite, and uplift young engineers across the country.
At PEC's 51st Governing Body meeting chaired by Engr. Waseem Nazir, the decision was made to establish this national-level platform aimed at boosting leadership, professional development, and technical skills among Pakistan’s youth in engineering.
YENF Goals:
• Unite engineering associations, societies & youth groups under one umbrella.
• Develop leadership and technical capabilities.
• Build a national database of young engineers.
• Provide guidance and recommendations tailored to young engineers' needs.
• Foster unity, national cohesion, and innovation in the engineering profession.
PEC invites all young engineers, associations, and groups to become part of this transformative movement.
Let’s build the future of engineering — together!

Job Search Tip #1: How to Get Recruiters to Find You

In today’s job market, simply applying to job postings and waiting for responses isn’t enough. Many of the best job opportunities aren’t even advertised. They’re hidden and can only be found by those who know how to stand out to recruiters. So, how do you get recruiters to reach out to you instead?

What is the Hidden Job Market?
The "hidden job market" refers to job openings that are filled through referrals, networking, or direct contact by recruiters — without ever being posted online. Employers prefer this method because it saves time. They trust connections more than public job ads. If you're not making yourself easy to find, you’re missing out on many great opportunities.

Why Aren’t Recruiters Contacting You?
If you’re not hearing from recruiters, here are a few reasons why:

No Keywords on Your Profile: Recruiters search for candidates using specific keywords on sites like LinkedIn. If your profile doesn’t use the right words related to your skills or industry, they won’t find you.

Incomplete or Private Profiles: If your profile is incomplete or too private, recruiters can’t see your full information. Make sure your profile is complete and set to public.

Not Active on Professional Platforms: If you’re not engaging on platforms like LinkedIn, recruiters won’t know you're active in your field. Posting updates, commenting on industry topics, or sharing your insights can increase your visibility.

How to Attract Recruiters
Here are some strategies to help you get noticed:

Optimize Your Profile: Make sure your profile includes relevant keywords, is complete, and is set to public.

Engage with Target Companies: Follow companies you want to work for, and interact with their posts. This shows you’re interested in them.

Show Your Expertise: Share articles, insights, or comment on discussions in your field. This helps recruiters see that you’re a thought leader in your industry.

Use Platform Features: Take full advantage of features like LinkedIn’s “Open to Work” and endorsements to make your profile more attractive.

The Power of Consistency
To get recruiters to find you, consistency is key. Regularly update your profile, interact with others in your field, and grow your network. Over time, this builds your online presence, making you a magnet for job opportunities.

Final Thoughts
Don’t just wait for job opportunities to come to you. Take control by optimizing your online profile, engaging with companies, showcasing your expertise, and being consistent. When you make yourself easy to find, recruiters will come to you.
