President of the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of Pakistan, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, MNA, warmly welcomed the Maldivian Parliamentary delegation from People’s Majlis of the Republic of Maldives at the Parliament House, Islamabad, today. The meeting underscored the historic and friendly ties between Pakistan and Maldives and focused on enhancing youth cooperation and parliamentary engagement.

The delegation actively participated in discussions emphasizing the importance of youth as key stakeholders in shaping the future of both nations. The YPF President highlighted the need for investing in education, skills development, and civic participation to empower young populations.

Several initiatives for collaboration were proposed, including the establishment of a Pakistan–Maldives Youth Parliamentary Dialogue to exchange ideas and address common challenges like youth unemployment, education reform, climate action, and digital innovation. Proposals also included expanding scholarships under the Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme (PTAP), joint training workshops, and youth exchange programs.

Acknowledging the Maldives’ frontline position in climate change, both sides agreed on empowering youth cooperation in climate diplomacy, focusing on sustainable tourism, renewable energy, and environmental protection.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the delegation's agreement to support and collaborate on the formation of a Young Parliamentarians Forum in the Maldives. This initiative will create a formal platform for young legislators in Maldives to engage actively in policymaking and to strengthen ties with their Pakistani counterparts.

YPF President, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar along with Convenor Pak-Maldives PFG, Ms. Shaista Khan expressed confidence that this partnership would open new avenues for friendship, youth empowerment, and parliamentary cooperation.

On 8th September 2025, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, MNA/ President Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF), chaired Panel Discussion at the National Conference on Teaching, Research, and Writing about the Parliament held at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS). The conference focused on enhancing parliamentary studies as a discipline by integrating constitutional knowledge and parliamentary practices into the curriculum to foster democratic values among youth.
During her panel discussion, President YPF highlighted the foundational vision of Pakistan’s federal parliamentary democracy as established by the founding fathers and underscored the importance of producing skilled professionals to serve Parliament effectively. She emphasized the significance of embedding the 1973 Constitution into educational curricula to develop informed and responsible citizens who uphold democratic principles. The discussion also called for universities to play a key role in equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in democratic governance and address societal challenges.
The session further stressed the need for textbooks to reflect Pakistan’s diversity, including representation of women, minorities, and persons with special needs, while fostering values such as rule of law, accountability, tolerance, and social justice. The enriched civic curriculum envisioned through this conference aims to nurture future leaders committed to equality, environmental stewardship, scientific advancement, and peace-building.

Islamabad; 11th August 2025 — The Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of the National Assembly, in collaboration with the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), held an important briefing session today at the Parliament House, Islamabad. The session was chaired by the Honourable President of the Young Parliamentarians Forum, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar.

During the session, NAVTTC’s Executive Director, Mr. Muhammad Aamir Jan, delivered a comprehensive and detailed presentation highlighting the Commission’s mandate, policy initiatives, and efforts to promote vocational and technical education across the country. He informed the participants that NAVTTC is implementing various training projects, skills development courses, apprenticeship programs, the National Skills Registry, and public-private partnership initiatives aimed at aligning training with industry requirements.

The briefing further elaborated that the Commission is utilising its allocated funds in a transparent manner through projects being carried out with both public and private institutions to impart basic vocational skills. The participants were informed about the number of individuals who have secured employment in Pakistan and abroad after receiving NAVTTC certification, and how these initiatives have strengthened the country’s workforce.

Senior officials of NAVTTC accompanying the Executive Director also contributed to the briefing, including Dr. Muhammad Ishaq, Director General (P\&D); Ms. Farhat Hafeez, Director General (SS\&C); Mr. Shahzad Ahmad, Director (Certification); Mr. Muhammad Yasir, Director (Registration); Ms. Fatima Gilani, Director (Monitoring & Evaluation); Mr. Ahmad (Consultant); Mr. Malik Ramzan (Protocol Officer), and other relevant officers.

Following the briefing, members of the Young Parliamentarians Forum and Honourable Members of the National Assembly actively participated in a question-and-answer session, discussing ways to further strengthen vocational training through legislative support and policy collaboration.

The session was attended by Members of the Young Parliamentarians Forum and Members of the National Assembly, including Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani, Mr. Ali Jan Mazari, Mr. M. Mobeen Arif, Mr. Ammar Ahmad Khan Leghari, Ms. Akhtar Bibi, Syed Shah Ahad Ali Shah, Mr. Usman Ali, Mr. Awais Haider Jakhar, Ms. Shaista Khan, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, and Mr. Salahuddin Junejo.

This engagement reflects the shared commitment of the National Assembly and NAVTTC to work together in developing a skilled workforce that will not only strengthen Pakistan’s economy but also play a vital role in empowering the youth of the country.
