𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀

Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Director General NARC, met with Ms. Jenny Van Beam, Global Genebank Partnership Coordinator, Crop Trust, along with the Plant Genetic Resources Program team, to discuss strategies for enhancing Pakistan’s vital plant genetic resources.

The meeting highlighted continued collaboration between NARC and the Crop Trust to ensure agricultural sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and food security in Pakistan.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗖 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵

Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi, Chairman PARC, along with Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Director General NARC, urged scientists to further strengthen research and development (R&D) for the advancement of Pakistan’s agriculture.

He emphasized the importance of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence to address emerging challenges in the sector and to ensure national food security.

The leadership reaffirmed PARC’s commitment to fostering a research-driven, sustainable, and resilient agricultural system for a prosperous Pakistan.

A one-day training on “Gender-Inclusive Research and Development in Agriculture” was held today at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), jointly organized by the Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI), PARC, and the CABI Gender Technical Working Group (GTWG).

The session emphasized the importance of mainstreaming gender perspectives in agricultural research, policy, and innovation to ensure equitable participation and inclusive development across the sector.

A training workshop was inaugurated today at the CEWRI Committee Room, NARC, organized in collaboration with JICA.
The event was graced by Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Director General NARC, as the Chief Guest in the inauguration session.

The workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of researchers and practitioners in promoting Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices to enhance resilience and productivity in rainfed regions of Pakistan.

The Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI), NARC is organizing a one-day “Scientist Training on Gender-Inclusive Research and Development in Agriculture” on 28 October 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Inspire Training Centre, NARC, in collaboration with CAB International (CABI) under the Plantwise Plus Programme.

Building on its strong foundation in socio-economic, policy, and participatory research, SSRI continues to lead initiatives that integrate gender and social inclusion into Pakistan’s agricultural innovation and R&D systems.

The National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) under PARC inaugurated the soybean harvesting activity on 27th October 2025. Organized by the Oilseeds Research Program, CSI-NARC, the event aimed to promote soybean cultivation for enhancing edible oil self-sufficiency in Pakistan.

Day 1: 6th Applied Economics Conference 2025
The School of Economics, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, in collaboration with the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), inaugurated the 6th Applied Economics Conference 2025 today at the NARC Auditorium, Islamabad.

Themed “Bridging Gaps: Strategies for Food Loss Mitigation,” the opening day featured insightful inaugural and technical sessions highlighting food loss mitigation, sustainable value chains, and public–private partnerships in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

Distinguished speakers and participants from FAO, PIDE, IIUI, BZU, and PARC shared valuable perspectives on promoting food security and reducing post-harvest losses.

The event continues tomorrow with further technical discussions and research presentations. 🌾📊

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗔𝗢 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 – 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘀 (𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗧𝗢)
A meeting was held at PARC-National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) with Dr. Romeo Labios, Alternate Lead Technical Officer (FAO), under the regional project “Enhancing Capacity on Sustainable Value Chain Development of Millets for Food and Nutrition Security in Pakistan (TCP/RAS/3909)”.

The project, implemented in collaboration with FAO, MNFSR, PARC, NARC, and Provincial Agriculture Departments, aims to promote climate-resilient and nutritious millet crops for sustainable and inclusive agrifood systems in Pakistan.

During the meeting, discussions focused on progress, key deliverables, and future actions to strengthen millet value chains, promote better production, better nutrition, better environment, and better life in line with FAO’s Strategic Framework (2022–2031).

Organized under the KOPIA Technical Cooperation Project at PARC-National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad, the 4-day international workshop commenced today with great enthusiasm.

The inaugural session featured distinguished guests, including Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi (Chairman, PARC), Dr. Khalid Mehmood (DG, NARC), and Mr. Park Intae (Director, KOPIA Pakistan Center).

Dr. Jihwan Lee, Animal Reproduction Specialist from the National Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), RDA Korea, delivered insightful remarks on advanced reproductive technologies and their role in livestock improvement.

Participants also visited ARGP laboratories and animal sheds to observe practical demonstrations, marking a productive start to this international collaboration.

World Food Day 2025 was commemorated at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

The event was graced by Mr. Amir Mohyuddin, Federal Secretary for National Food Security & Research; Mr. James Robert Okoth, Officer-in-Charge FAO Pakistan; Ms. Lindita Bare, Deputy Country Director WFP Pakistan; Ms. Ayesha Qureshi, Country Programme Analyst IFAD Pakistan Dr. Hassan Murtaza Andarabi, Chairman PARC and Dr. Khalid Mehmood, Director General NARC.

The gathering highlighted the collective commitment to advancing food security, sustainable agriculture, and resilience for a hunger-free future. 🌍
