Rudkhan Castle is located in the forests of Fuman in Gilan Province and is considered one of Iran’s most important mountain fortresses. Its original foundations likely date back to the Sassanid era, while major reconstruction and expansion occurred during the Seljuk period. Built on elevated terrain, the fortress includes long defensive walls, towers, gates, and both military and residential spaces. The use of stone and brick, combined with its difficult mountainous access, strengthened its defensive function.
رودخان قلعہ صوبہ گیلان کے شہر فومن کے جنگلات میں واقع ہے اور اسے ایران کے اہم ترین پہاڑی قلعوں میں شمار کیا جاتا ہے۔ اس کی ابتدائی بنیادیں غالباً ساسانی دور سے تعلق رکھتی ہیں، جبکہ اس کی بڑی تعمیرِ نو اور توسیع سلجوقی دور میں انجام پائی۔
بلند پہاڑی مقام پر تعمیر کیا گیا یہ قلعہ طویل دفاعی دیواروں، برجوں، دروازوں، اور فوجی و رہائشی حصوں پر مشتمل ہے۔ پتھر اور اینٹ کے استعمال کے ساتھ اس تک دشوار گزار پہاڑی راستوں کی موجودگی نے اس کی دفاعی اہمیت کو مزید مضبوط بنایا۔
