The Baloch Students Front (BSF) expresses its profound concern over the alleged enforced disappearances of several students of Karachi University. According to the available information, Khalil Ahmed s/o Jan Muhammad, an MPhil student at Karachi University, was reportedly taken from Karachi University at approximately 6:00 PM on 4 August. Furthermore, at around 2:00 AM on 5 August, Waseem Baloch, a Political Science student; Azhar Baloch s/o Hayat Baloch, a General History student; Ghos Bakhsh s/o Hayat, a BS Economics student; Shehzad Baloch s/o Shahid, an Environmental Science student; and Anees Baloch s/o Azeem, a BS Philosophy student, were reportedly taken from Bashir Village, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. Their reported whereabouts remain unknown, causing grave concern among their families, fellow students, and the wider academic community.
BSF calls upon the relevant authorities to immediately disclose the whereabouts of these students and ensure their safety, security, and well-being. Students are entitled to pursue their education without fear, and every citizen has the fundamental rights to liberty, due process, and equal protection under the law. Allegations of enforced disappearances raise serious humanitarian and legal concerns and should be addressed transparently and in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
We urge the Government of Pakistan, law enforcement authorities, and all relevant state institutions to take immediate and effective steps to ensure the safe recovery and return of Khalil Ahmed, Waseem Baloch, Azhar Baloch, Ghos Bakhsh, Shehzad Baloch, and Anees Baloch. We also call upon human rights organizations, civil society, the legal fraternity, and the media to closely monitor these reported incidents and advocate for the protection of fundamental rights, accountability, and the rule of law. BSF stands in solidarity with the families of the missing students and reiterates its demand for their safe and immediate return.
