On International Mother Language Day, DUET Reader's Club had a discussion on Languages, Langauge Policy and Langauge Revitalization under the supervision of Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Faizullah Abbasi (T.I). Teachers discussed in-detail the langauge issues related to global langauge, Urdu as a Lingua Franca, Provincial capital Langauge Sindhi and other Indigenous languages. Teachers stressed upon the importance of education in mother tongue at primary level. Honorable VC Prof. Dr Faizullah shared his experience of living in a foreign context with a local tongue and how important Langauge is emotionally and psychologically. The session concluded with a talk about a book "Pakistani Zabanen aur Boliyan by M. A Veesrio published by Pakistan Academy of Letters. The book has compiled all the lanaguges spoken in Pakistan.

Today Mr Ibrahim Buriro (MPhil Scholar Development Studies, IBA University) was invited as a Guest to review the book "Where the River Ends". He reviewed the book by narrating about the Delta of the Colarado River in Mexico. Also, an interesting comparasion of the Delta of River Indus was shared as well during the session.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Faizullah Abbasi (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) gifted 26 books from his valuable collection to the DUET Reading Club.
The session was attended by more than 30 DUET's Book Lovers faculty members.

On 13th December, Mr Ibrahim Buriro MS Scholar (Development Studies) at IBA Karachi was invited for a talk on "Rivers, Dams, Floods & Sindh Delta" by DUET Reading Club Dawood University of Engineering and Technology Karachi. Mr Ibrahim has recently published an essay in The New York Times "My Elders in Pakistan Predicted Calamity. Now It's here". In the session the guest speaker, Director Students Affairs Mr. Sikendar Abbasi and members of reading club (Teachers of DUET) had an effective discussion on the natural path of River Indus and the effect of pollution on Lakes. Also, the various aspects of planning: role of Govt and society with respect to construction of Dams was shared. Lastly, Mr Buriro talked about the disasters of Sindh Floods 2022 and its impact on agriculture, environment, society and a commann man; as narrated in his essay. DUET Reader’s Club held its weekly session to appreciate the poetic contributions of renowned
poet “Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The session started with a brief history of Faiz’s initial life and his
achievements. Afterwards, Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Faizullah Abbasi (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) recited a poem “Memories” with translation from his collection of books in the university. Also, Dr. Faizullah Abbasi (TI) talked about the importance of reading poetry and the magical power of Faiz verses; he believed ‘every word has a symbolic meaning and it has been conveyed with the best poetic words”. Similarly, the members also recited some of the famous verses like “Mujh se pehle si muhabbat; Raqeeb Se and Nisar mein tere gaaliyon ke”, Mere milne wale” and “Bol ke lab azaad hai tere” and others. Overall, the session highlighted the significant contributions that Faiz made through his poetry towards the poetic society and public. Such sessions are delightful and need of the hour in universities.
