Second Meeting on the Plasma Fractionation Project
The Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) held the second meeting regarding the proposed Plasma Fractionation Project to review progress on previously discussed proposals, deliberate on the way forward, and discuss matters related to the procurement and engagement of a project consultant.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary SBTA, Dr. Dur-e-Naz Jamal, and Director SBTA, Dr. Aftab Ahmed Mallah, along with Mr. Fahad Ansari, PPP Unit, Finance Department, Government of Sindh;
and Dr. Danish, Clinical Hematologist, JPMC, Health Department.
Discussions focused on advancing project planning, consultant procurement, and interdepartmental coordination to support the development of local capacity for plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs).
SBTA remains committed to strengthening blood transfusion services and promoting sustainable solutions for the availability of essential plasma-derived therapies in Sindh.

Thalassemia Screening Activity at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur
The Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA), in collaboration with Muhammadi, conducted a Thalassemia Screening Activity at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur, on 16 September 2026.
Secretary SBTA, Dr. Dur-e-Naz Jamal, was invited as the chief guest, and emphasized the importance of early screening and awareness in preventing thalassemia and protecting future generations.
SBTA appreciates the collaboration of Muhammadi and Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University in supporting thalassemia prevention and promoting awareness among young people.
Together, through screening and awareness, we can strengthen thalassemia prevention across Sindh.

Plasma Fractionation Project in Sindh
The Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) is advancing the proposed Plasma Fractionation Project—a major step towards strengthening Sindh and Pakistan’s capacity for the domestic production of plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs).
Discussions focused on the PPP implementation model, feasibility study, financial structure, expert consultancy, and identification of suitable land for the project.
The project represents an important move towards better utilization of donated plasma, reducing reliance on imported plasma-derived products, and building greater self-reliance in essential blood-derived therapies.
SBTA remains committed to advancing safe, sustainable, and quality-driven transfusion services across Sindh and Pakistan.
