Thalassemia Day at NICH
SBTA proudly acknowledges Thalassemia Day at NICH, focused on raising awareness among postgraduate trainees and healthcare professionals regarding effective thalassemia management, with strong emphasis on prevention strategies.
Expert speakers highlighted key areas including genomics, safe blood practices, Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation (VNRBD), Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), and other essential approaches aimed at strengthening prevention, early diagnosis, and improved patient care.
Such scientific discussions play a vital role in promoting awareness, advancing knowledge, and building stronger strategies for thalassemia prevention and management.

Stakeholder Consultation Meeting at SBTA for Thalassemia Care
On 13th May, Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) hosted an important Stakeholder Consultation Meeting in Karachi to discuss the proposed development of a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Thalassemia Care & Prevention in collaboration with Bahria University, hematologists, thalassemia centers, and key stakeholders.
The discussion focused on strengthening thalassemia education, improving hemovigilance, enhancing blood safety, and developing a structured academic framework to support better prevention and patient care.
SBTA sincerely thanks all participants, institutions, and experts—both in person and online—for their valuable insights and collaborative support towards this important initiative.
