Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has alleged that the federal rulers are preventing his government and the establishment from reaching an understanding.
Speaking to senior journalists, Afridi said political responsibility lies with Junaid Akbar while he is handling the government’s responsibilities. He said preparations for the October 4 march have been completed and reiterated that he is following the directives of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Afridi claimed that KP’s provincial revenue has increased from Rs64 billion to Rs150 billion and said the government aims to take it to Rs200 billion. He also highlighted development projects, including 1,000-bed hospitals in Peshawar and Malakand.
On Afghanistan, the chief minister said unnecessary disputes with Kabul should be avoided, claiming the closure of the Pak-Afghan border had caused Rs7 billion in losses this year. He called for dialogue through a national jirga and said good relations with Afghanistan are in Pakistan’s interest.
Regarding political protests, Afridi said his government had been approaching institutions for months but had received no response, leading to the protest call. He said PTI would hold the October 4 march and maintained that the party is political, not an armed group, while remaining open to negotiations.
Afridi also criticized Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, alleging that “one person’s policy” is being implemented in the country through Naqvi. He said he considers himself a soldier of Imran Khan and would not allow the chief minister’s office to come between him and his political objective.
