“We have to examine the fundamental theoretical errors, even if the Rojava Revolution was seen as a successful revolution. We are duty-bound to tell the truth, no matter how unpalatable it may be.
We have always supported the Rojava Revolution. We have always supported the right of the Kurdish people to self-determination, which includes their right to have their own country. In fact, the Kurds are considered the largest ethnic group in the world without a state of their own.
As you know, the Kurdish population is divided mainly between southeastern Turkey, northeastern Syria, northern Iraq, and northwestern Iran, along with some smaller territories. These constitute the four major blocks of Kurdish territory.
We have always supported their right to self-determination, and in Rojava, you had a revolution that we supported. But many mistakes were made, and I am going to mention some of them.
One of the biggest mistakes was to rely on US imperialism, and another was to form an alliance with Arab tribal leaders. But more importantly, because of this alliance, they never completed the revolution, in the sense that they never abolished capitalism.”
