NGA celebrated – which takes place this weekend – by hosting a panel at our Springfield, Va. headquarters.

Panelists included Lucien Holness, Ph.D., professor of African American Studies at Virginia Tech, Sandy Wilson, retired NGA senior executive and Mike Burns, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) senior executive. They discussed the meaning of Juneteenth and how individuals can advocate and support diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“Juneteenth has become an opportunity to not only celebrate the abolition of slavery in the United States but also recognize and appreciate African-American culture. And of course, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the work still ahead of us — to achieve full diversity and inclusion, advancing the hard-earned progress that’s already been made,” said Tonya Wilkerson, NGA Deputy Director.
