Kitab Ghar Lahore is offering a short course titled Contemporary Kashmiri Literature this spring. Find out more information through the link in our bio!
As part of the short course, we will be reading the themes of resistance and defiance, oppression and optimism in the Kashmiri poems and memoirs that have emerged in the last century and this one. By engaging with this literature, this short course aims to foster in its students a nuanced comprehension of the historical, emotional, and socio-political landscapes of Kashmir. The course is designed to develop an enhanced awareness of the intricacies of collective struggle that define Kashmir as we know it today. The poets covered are: Mahjoor, Amin Kamil, Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Agha Shahid Ali, Ather Zia, and Nighat Sahiba. The memoirists are Basharat Peer, Anjum Zamrud Habib, Farhana Qazi, and Farah Bashir.
This course will be facilitated by Ammar Ahmed, a student of literature at the Lums - School of Humanities. He has been privately tutoring young learners for the past five years. Presently, Ammar works at Sight: an Ngo working in the domain of healthcare and education. He is also a member of the Progressive Students Federation (PrSF). Ammar loves books and the occasional sight of rainbows in Lahore’s rather grim skies.
Registration Fee: Rs 5,000
Starting Date: 1st February, 2026.
Short course open for: FSc/A-Level/IBDP students only
