Lahore Human books Library

Here are some glimpses of 2nd event of Lahore Human Books Library. It was a great pleasure to meet new people, know about their thoughts, listen the human book. We are just spreading our purpose of breaking prejudices and deconstructing judgemental thoughts. In the last, we gifted paper books to the participants. We cordially thanks to all the participants.

Sunday's are the best day of the week. But a Sunday near the end of the month is special for the Lahore Human books Library community because it's the day of the month when they get together and sit to talk and listen, learn to think out of the box and speak to those they would not normally meet. In a place where their words are heard and understood, praised and remembered.

The question we received:

Our culture and society don't promote such an environment where one can freely share his feelings/journey/memories. How are you ensuring that Lahore Human books Library will be consisting of non-judgmental people?

Answer from our side:

We agree that our society and culture both are poles apart from this idea but what we can do? We can break the norm. We have to deconstruct some rules to create new ones. We are trying to gather a community that is pi**ed off by this odd norm of society and wants to have an escape. And we believe that continuous participation in Lahore Human books Library events can develop breakers of this old norm and creators of new positive laws.

The idea of this Human library is to create an environment where a reader can choose a human book of his/her choice and get a chance to listen to people who freely share their stories, happenings, and journey. For the first time in Lahore, you get to read books consisting not of paper but, of flesh and bones. Where you speak and share without being judged, in an environment away from danger and harm.

And we have a book as a token of a gift for all the Human Books who are going to register for our 2nd event.

This is our motto statement. Living in a society where everyone is busy in their own race the least we can do for others is to provide them kind ears and a warm tap on their shoulders when needed.
Lahore Human books Library enhances the listening power of people and create an effective community of good listeners.

The idea of the Human Books Library

A group of five friends from Denmark is the founder of this library. One of those friends was murdered brutally and his remaining friends instead of going out and taking revenge from the people preferred to create an environment where people come and share 'Why'. Why were they murdered, why they attempted su***de, why they are the way they are? What was the reason behind it?
Now, over 80 countries are carrying human books libraries. In Pakistan, some sessions of the human book library have been arranged before in Karachi but Lahore Human books Library is the first official human books library in Pakistan and we are glad that now Pakistan is also among those 80 plus countries.
Our purpose is to create a healthy environment where people break prejudices and stereotypes of staying silent. Where people can come and share their stories freely. Where people of different backgrounds and communities connect.

We are going to arrange our 2nd event at the Human Books Library at the end of October. Stay tuned for the registration.

Our experience as organizers of the first event of Lahore Human Books Library

We just had a random thought in our minds regarding the human books library during our summer break and we were like we have to arrange it till the end of September. Randomly made google forms, people showed responses more than our expectations and we had a successful event (the trial process of random. thought) yesterday. From booking the venue to the confirmation of participants everything was done on our own. No external support but the support of Allah. While arriving at the venue we were continuously praying please Allah let everything work smoothly. We tried our best to serve the intellectual minds a promising environment because they were investing their time and money.

Now, the main goal is to arrange this event at the last of every month with further positive amendments based on suggestions and reviews presented by people.
