The release of convicted good conduct prisoners on parole and placement of offenders on probation, under framework of law, reformation, rehabilitation and to reduce recidivism, to reintegrate such offenders into society as productive citizens besides reducing persistent general congestion and over-crowding in jails are among the main functions of the service.
