Punjab has always stood for religious harmony and respect for every faith. The conservation of the historic Tomari Sahib Temple reflects that spirit. Our team has carefully stabilized the temple’s shikhara, strengthened the causeway, preserved the centuries-old jujube tree, and improved the structure’s life through essential engineering work. During restoration, three later floor layers were removed to reveal the original brick edging of the temple floor, which is now being carefully preserved. This effort not only safeguards architectural heritage but also reaffirms Punjab’s enduring tradition of inclusivity and protection of sacred places for all communities.

پنجاب ہمیشہ مذہبی رواداری اور تمام مذاہب کے احترام کی علامت رہا ہے۔ ٹومڑی صاحب مندر کے تحفظ و بحالی کا یہ منصوبہ اسی روایت کی عکاسی کرتا ہے۔ اس کام کے دوران مندر کے شکھرہ کو محفوظ اور مستحکم کیا گیا، راستہ (کازوے) مضبوط کیا گیا، قدیم بیری کے درخت کو محفوظ رکھا گیا اور انجینئرنگ کے اقدامات سے عمارت کی ساختی عمر میں اضافہ کیا گیا۔ بحالی کے عمل میں مندر کے اندر فرش کی تین بعد کی تہیں ہٹا کر اصل اینٹوں کی کناری والا فرش دریافت کیا گیا جسے اب احتیاط سے محفوظ کیا جا رہا ہے۔ یہ کاوش نہ صرف ایک تاریخی عبادت گاہ کے فنِ تعمیر کو بچانے کا عمل ہے بلکہ پنجاب کی ہم آہنگ اور جامع تہذیب کا بھی واضح اظہار ہے۔

Every monument ages, but heritage must never fade. At Rohtas Fort, bio-film and wild vegetation had gradually covered sections of the historic masonry. These before–during–after visuals capture the careful removal of those layers. This marks the first step toward upcoming conservation work, allowing the fort’s authentic stone surfaces to emerge once again. Because preserving heritage begins with understanding, patience, and respect for the past.

During his recent visit to Taxila, Dr. Khaled El-Enany Director-General of UNESCO, toured the ongoing excavations at Bhirb Mound, observing firsthand the efforts underway to uncover and preserve the earliest urban layers of this historic city. The visit highlighted the shared commitment to protecting and understanding one of the world’s most remarkable archaeological landscapes.

The Directorate General of Archaeology, Punjab is currently undertaking careful conservation of the Minar, the grave of Man Siraj, the historic causeway, and the central pavilion. Each intervention is guided by the principle of preserving authenticity while ensuring that this remarkable monument continues to inspire future generations.
