Under the leadership of Minister for Information & Culture, Punjab, Azma Bokhari, the Alhamra Arts Council is undergoing a strategic three step transformation to restore its historic prestige and global mandate.
The department has stripped away commercial exploitation and low-tier stage dramas to clear the way for authentic cultural expression.
Alhamra is being rebuilt from the ground up as a premium, inclusive ecosystem designed for every artist، every performer, and every audience.
The revival of our cultural legacy is officially underway.

Executive Director, Lahore Arts Council Alhamra, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal, visited the prestigious University of Toronto Art Museum, where he explored the internationally acclaimed contemporary art exhibition “Blind Spot” at the Justina M. Barnicke Gallery.

Curated by Gia Liapi, the exhibition features work by internationally recognized artists Shadi Habib Allah, Shu Lea Cheang, Jeremy Laing, Lou Sheppard, and Iris Touliatou. Through installation, video, performance, and digital media, the exhibition critically examines hidden structures within technological, social, and institutional systems.

The iconic red-brick complex we all know today wasn’t just built overnight. Its story goes back to the post partition era when a handful of art lovers tried to save the city’s cultural identity in a random evacuee building and a makeshift theatre so tiny it could barely squeeze in 120 people.
Legends like Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Madam Noor Jehan transformed this theatre into an iconic playground for their soulful performances long before the actual massive auditoriums were ever built.
