Madam Beenish Fatimah Sahi, Director General, Local Government & Community Development Department, Punjab, visited the far-flung Union Council Deobern Khurd, Tehsil Kahuta, District Rawalpindi, on Saturday. During her visit, she inspected both old and newly maintained manual records and reviewed the functioning of the CRMS Mobile Application in the remote area. The DG also interacted with the field staff and inquired about the challenges being faced in ensuring efficient service delivery to citizens. She stressed the importance of providing the best possible public services, particularly in remote and underserved areas, and directed the field staff to facilitate and accommodate citizens to the maximum possible extent. She further emphasized that no citizen should face unnecessary difficulties in accessing government services and instructed the staff to remain responsive, courteous, and committed to ensuring timely and transparent service delivery.

Under the leadership of the Provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower, Muhammad Manshaullah Butt, an important agreement was signed between Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and Local Government & Community Development (LG&CD) to strengthen institutional coordination and facilitate the provision of CRVS services. The ceremony was attended by Madam Benish Fatimah Sahi, Director General, LG&CD, Punjab, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Kharl, Commissioner of PESSI and Madam Faiza Shahid Director General NADRA Lahore along with other senior officers.
Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Kharl, Commissioner of Punjab Social Security, formally signed the agreement on behalf of Punjab Social Security, marking an important step towards enhancing cooperation between institutions. The agreement is aimed at improving coordination, streamlining processes, strengthening data management, and ensuring more efficient and transparent delivery of services to registered workers and their families. The initiative reflects the commitment of the Punjab Government and the leadership of the Provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower to modernize public service delivery and improve the welfare and social protection of workers across the province.

The Director General LG&CD, Punjab along with Director (Admin & Coord), Director (Audit & Accounts) and Assistant Director (NADRA) paid a supervisory visit to the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Head Office and e-Khidmat Markaz in Arfa Karim Tower.

During the visit, she reviewed the overall functioning of the e-Khidmat Markaz and examined the facilities and citizen-centric services being provided under one roof. She also took a detailed look at the operational arrangements, service delivery mechanisms, and measures aimed at ensuring efficient and transparent public service delivery.

A meeting was held in Director General LG&CD Punjab Office, to review the implementation of the “100% Child Birth Registration Initiative” in selected Masali Gaons under the UNICEF-supported PRMSC Project. The initiative aims to achieve universal birth registration through coordinated community outreach and collaboration among Local Government, NADRA, Health and Education Departments, and community stakeholders.
The meeting also focused on organizing community awareness activities and birth registration camps to facilitate families and ensure that no eligible child remains unregistered.

Dr. Farooq Ahmad Khara, Director (A&C), Director General LG&CD Punjab, delivered a lecture during the 3rd Six-Weeks Mandatory Promotion Training (MPT) of officers of the Administrative, Finance, Engineering and Planning Functional Unit of the Local Government Service at Punjab Local Government Academy, Lalamusa.
The session covered Digitization of CRVS in Punjab, Health Interoperability, Mobile Application & Biometric Verification, along with the Birth & Death Registration Rules in Punjab.

Today, an official delegation of the Philippine Ombudsman, comprising officers and staff, along with representatives of the Local Ombudsman, Sargodha, visited the office of the Assistant Director LG&CD, Kot Momin.

The Assistant Director welcomed the delegation and provided a comprehensive briefing on the administrative structure, functions and responsibilities of Union Councils and Local Government at the Tehsil level. The delegation was also briefed on various aspects of local governance, community services, public facilitation, maintenance of official records, registration services, complaint redressal, and coordination with Union Councils.

The visit served as a valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences regarding local governance, accountability, transparency and effective community service delivery at the grassroots level.

The Worthy Director General, LG&CD Punjab hosted a farewell and welcome lunch to acknowledge the services of Mr. Muhammad Farooq (AD T&M) and Ms. Mahnoor Tariq (PSO to DG/AD Coord), and to welcome the newly inducted Assistant Directors to the Department.
The occasion marked the conclusion of Mr. Farooq’s tenure with the Department and Ms. Mahnoor Tariq’s transition to the prestigious Civil Services of Pakistan, while also providing an opportunity to formally welcome the newly inducted officers and extend best wishes for their professional journey in the Department.
The Department extends its appreciation to the outgoing officers for their services and wishes them continued success in their future endeavors, while welcoming the new officers with the expectation of a productive and meaningful tenure ahead.
