ملاقات میں باہمی دلچسپی کے امور، سماجی تحفظ کے پروگراموں، اور جدید ٹیکنالوجی کے فروغ پر تفصیلی تبادلۂ خیال کیا گیا۔

علی مصطفیٰ ڈار صاحب اور جہاں آراء وٹو نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ وزیرِ اعلیٰ پنجاب مریم نواز کے وژن کے مطابق پنجاب پاکستان کا پہلا صوبہ بنے گا جو سماجی تحفظ کے شعبے میں آرٹیفیشل انٹیلیجنس کے استعمال کے ذریعے مکمل طور پر ڈیجیٹل نظام کی جانب گامزن ہوگا۔

اس موقع پر وائس چیئرپرسن جہاں آراء منظور وٹو نے کہا کہ پنجاب سوشل پروٹیکشن اتھارٹی صوبے کے مستحق اور کمزور طبقات کی فلاح و بہبود کے لیے بھرپور اقدامات کر رہی ہے۔ آرٹیفیشل انٹیلیجنس اور جدید ٹیکنالوجی کے استعمال سے سماجی تحفظ کے پروگراموں کو مزید مؤثر، شفاف اور عوام دوست بنایا جائے گا۔ یہ اشتراک پنجاب میں سماجی تحفظ کے نظام کو جدید خطوط پر استوار کرنے میں اہم سنگِ میل ثابت ہوگا۔

علی مصطفیٰ ڈار صاحب نے جہاں آراء منظور وٹو کی قیادت میں ڈیجیٹل پنجاب کے وژن کے تحت سماجی تحفظ کے شعبے میں کیے گئے اقدامات کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کیا۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ جدید ٹیکنالوجی کا استعمال عوام کو شفاف، تیز رفتار اور مؤثر سہولیات کی فراہمی کی ضمانت ہے — اور یہی ڈیجیٹل پنجاب کا اصل ہدف ہے۔

وائس چیئرپرسن، پی ایس پی اے، جہاں آراء منظور وٹو نے صدر سندس فاؤنڈیشن، یاسین خالد کی خصوصی دعوت پر سندس فاؤنڈیشن کے زیرِ اہتمام ورلڈ تھیلیسیمیا ڈے کے موقع پر منعقدہ تقریب میں گیسٹ اف اونر کے طور پر شرکت کی، جہاں اُن کا پرتپاک استقبال کیا گیا۔ تقریب کے مہمانِ خصوصی گورنر پنجاب، سردار سلیم حیدر خان تھے۔

تقریب میں مختلف شعبہ ہائے زندگی سے تعلق رکھنے والے افراد نے شرکت کی اور تھیلیسیمیا کے مرض، اس کی وجوہات، بروقت تشخیص، علاج اور احتیاطی تدابیر کے حوالے سے آگاہی فراہم کی۔ مقررین نے خون کے عطیات، شادی سے قبل اسکریننگ اور عوامی شعور کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔

اپنے خطاب میں وائس چیئرپرسن، جہاں آراء منظور وٹو نے کہا کہ تھیلیسیمیا ایک ایسا مرض ہے جو مسلسل طبی توجہ، باقاعدہ خون کی فراہمی، ادویات اور نگرانی کا تقاضا کرتا ہے، تاہم یہ ایک قابلِ روک بیماری بھی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بروقت تشخیص، شادی سے قبل ٹیسٹنگ، جینیاتی مشاورت اور عوامی آگاہی کے ذریعے ہزاروں بچوں کو اس تکلیف سے محفوظ رکھا جا سکتا ہے۔

وائس چیئرپرسن نے بتایا کہ پی ایس پی اےکے تحت آغوش پروگرام کا میابی سے جاری ہے، جو حاملہ خواتین، دودھ پلانے والی ماؤں اور دو سال تک کے بچوں کی ماؤں کو صحت اور غذائیت سے متعلق سہولیات فراہم کرتا ہے۔ اس پروگرام کے تحت رجسٹرڈ خواتین کو 38 ہزار روپے تک کی مالی معاونت دی جاتی ہے تاکہ وہ بروقت طبی معائنہ، مناسب غذائیت اور بچوں کی بنیادی ضروریات بہتر طور پر پوری کر سکیں۔

اس کے علاوہ، وائس چیئرپرسن نے مزید کہا کہ تحقیق کے مطابق زندگی کے پہلے ایک ہزار دن، یعنی حمل کے آغاز سے لے کر بچے کے 24 ماہ تک کا عرصہ جسمانی، ذہنی اور دماغی نشوونما کے لیے نہایت اہم ہوتا ہے، اور آغوش پروگرام اسی نازک مرحلے میں ماں اور بچے کی صحت و غذائیت کو یقینی بنا کر مضبوط بنیاد فراہم کرتا ہے اور پنجاب کے 13 اضلاع میں فعال یہ پروگرام اس عزم کی عملی مثال ہے کہ ایک صحت مند ماں ہی ایک صحت مند نسل کی ضامن ہے۔

مزید برآں، گورنر پنجاب، سردار سلیم حیدر خان نے اپنے خطاب میں تھیلیسیمیا کے مرض کی سنگینی، اس سے بچاؤ کی احتیاطی تدابیر اور عوامی آگاہی کی اہمیت پر روشنی ڈالتے ہوئے کہا کہ بروقت اسکریننگ، محفوظ خون کی دستیابی اور معاشرتی سطح پر شعور پیدا کیے بغیر اس مرض پر مؤثر قابو پانا ممکن نہیں۔ گورنر پنجاب نے مزید کہا کہ وائس چیئرپرسن جہاں آراء منظور وٹو کی زیرِ صدارت پی ایس پی اے سماجی تحفظ اور عوامی فلاح کے میدان میں قابلِ قدر اقدامات کر رہی ہے، جو حکومتِ پنجاب کے ویژن کی عملی تصویر ہیں، اور اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ حکومت صحت عامہ کے شعبے میں ایسے تمام اقدامات کی مکمل سرپرستی جاری رکھے گی جو کمزور طبقات کو سہارا دینے اور ایک صحت مند معاشرے کی تشکیل میں مددگار ثابت ہوں۔

Vice Chairperson, Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA), Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo, graced the launch of the Child-Friendly City Initiative as Guest of Honor on the special invitation of the Vice Chairman, Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Mian Marghoob Ahmad, and UNICEF Representative, Pernille Ironside. The significant event also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Lahore Development Authority and UNICEF, reflecting their shared commitment to integrating child-friendly principles into urban planning and development.

Vice Chairperson’s active participation in the MoU signing ceremony further reinforced her steadfast support for cross-sector partnerships aimed at transforming Lahore into a city where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered. Collectively, these milestones lay a strong foundation for a future in which the children of Punjab can grow and thrive in environments designed with their needs and rights at the core.

The Child-Friendly City Initiative ensures that urban spaces are planned and governed with children’s rights and well-being at the center. It promotes child-focused policies, safe and accessible public spaces, equal access to quality services, and nurturing environments where children can grow, learn, and thrive without barriers.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chairperson Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo appreciated the collaborative spirit behind the initiative, noting that investing in children is essentially an investment in the future of society. She emphasized that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and enabling environment to thrive and expressed gratitude to UNICEF for its continued commitment to child welfare, protection, and development across Pakistan.

She further highlighted that, in line with the vision of Honorable Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and with the support of Speaker, Provincial Assembly of Punjab, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, the Parliamentary Caucus on Children with Disabilities (CWDs) has been established under the Chairpersonship of Salma Saeed. In this regard, PSPA, in collaboration with Parliamentary Caucus on CWDs and UNICEF, organized first-ever Roundtable on Children with Disabilities in Punjab. The session focused on reviewing existing policies and programs, identifying key gaps, and developing a coordinated and integrated policy and programmatic way forward for inclusive development.

The "Future-Ready Social Protection Systems – Capacity Building Workshop" concluded with a forward-looking discussion on data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and the role of emerging technologies in strengthening social protection systems.

The session featured an expert panel discussion led by Head of Data and Digital Transformation, Assad Khan, alongside Director at PITB, Hammad Khalique. The discussion shed light on how data-driven systems and digital innovation are reshaping governance, refining targeting mechanisms, and enhancing service delivery across social protection programs. It further explored the expanding role of automation, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms in strengthening social registries, improving emergency responsiveness, and enabling more efficient beneficiary management.

The technical training and guided exercise segment was led by Head of Technology and Smart Solutions, Inaamul Haq Mansoor, at OLIVE TS, Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFC). This hands-on component offered participants practical exposure to technology-driven solutions, equipping them with a clearer understanding of how innovation can be effectively applied within public sector systems.

The session drew to a close with a shield distribution ceremony, where Vice Chairperson PSPA, Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo, and other distinguished guests honored the Master Trainers and session experts. Certificates were also awarded to participants and event organizers in recognition of their valuable contributions to the workshop.

The session was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests, whose contributions lent significant weight to the proceedings. These included Chairperson of the Parliamentary Caucus on Children with Disabilities, Salma Hashmi; Head of Project – Adaptive Social Protection at GIZ, Johanna Knoess; Former Minister, Shehzad Cheema; and, Director General, PEMRA, Ayesha Maznoor Wattoo. Their collective insights emphasized the critical importance of leveraging technology, strengthening media engagement, and fostering strategic partnerships to advance social protection initiatives. The continued collaboration between PSPA and GIZ was also recognized as a key driver of innovation in this domain.

Additional perspectives were offered by, Development Representative and Deputy Head of British High Commission, Saeed ul Hassan, who commended the successful conduct of the workshop and highlighted the growing significance of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in shaping the future of social protection systems.

In her closing remarks, Vice Chairperson Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo emphasized the imperative of inter-departmental collaboration, the adoption of AI-driven approaches, and the pursuit of continued innovation in social protection. She commended the collective efforts of all stakeholders and reaffirmed PSPA's unwavering commitment to building technology-enabled, future-ready systems in alignment with the vision of the Government of Punjab. She also acknowledged the steadfast support of GIZ and highlighted the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) as a pioneering initiative that positions Punjab at the forefront of data-driven social protection in Pakistan.

In addition, Chairperson, Punjab Women Protection Authority, Hina Pervez Butt, commended the efforts made under the leadership of Vice Chairperson PSPA, Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo, reflecting a shared commitment to excellence in social protection training and governance.

The “Future-ready Social Protection Systems – Capacity Building Workshop” advanced into its next phase, focusing on strengthening policy alignment and improving the effectiveness of social protection interventions.

The session featured an engaging expert discussion led by Dr. Sohail A. Choudhry, Muzzammil Yaar, and Zahid Jamal, who brought diverse institutional perspectives on designing and implementing responsive and inclusive social protection systems.

The discussion emphasized:

• Strengthening inter-agency coordination for improved service delivery
• Aligning policy frameworks with ground-level realities
• Enhancing targeting and outreach mechanisms for vulnerable populations
• Promoting integrated approaches across social protection programs

The experts emphasized the importance of collaborative governance and evidence-based planning to ensure that social protection systems remain adaptive, efficient, and citizen-centric.

The session was followed by an interactive training and guided exercise led by Fatima Faraz, enabling participants to translate policy insights into practical strategies. Through hands-on activities, participants explored real-world challenges and solutions, strengthening their capacity to design and implement more effective social protection interventions.

The session reinforced a shared vision of building coordinated, inclusive, and future-ready systems that respond to the evolving needs of communities across Punjab. At the end of the session, Vice Chairperson, PSPA, Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo distributed appreciation shields among the experts.
