Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies Convenes Board of Faculty Meeting

The Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies at the University of Peshawar convened its Board of Faculty meeting on June 26, 2025, at the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Rubina Shahin, Dean of the Faculty, and was attended by heads of departments, senior professors, and distinguished faculty members. The agenda was both comprehensive and forward-looking, focusing on key initiatives aimed at enhancing academic quality and institutional development.

A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of revised syllabi for several departments, including Arabic, Urdu, Pashto, Islamic Studies, and the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre. These curriculum updates are intended to align academic offerings with contemporary educational standards and societal needs.

Additionally, the Board resolved to introduce two new compulsory subjects: Fahm-e-Quran (Understanding the Quran) and Seerat-un-Nabi (Biography of the Prophet). These courses will now be forwarded to the University’s Academic Council for formal approval.

The meeting featured insightful contributions from faculty members, whose perspectives enriched the policy discussions. Professor Dr. Rubina Shahin’s inclusive and strategic leadership was widely commended. Under her guidance, the Board formulated a robust and visionary framework to support the intellectual and academic development of students.

This session underscored the Faculty's steadfast commitment to academic excellence and to fostering a holistic educational experience that integrates both classical and contemporary knowledge.

A Proud Achievement for Law College!

We are delighted to share that Muhammad Idrees, a senior-year student at Law College and a distinguished Global UGRAD alumnus, has been selected by the U.S. Department of State and the University of Nebraska at Omaha for the fully funded Young South Asian Leaders Initiative (YSALI) Workshop on Social Entrepreneurship in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Idrees is one of only 82 dynamic young leaders chosen from across South Asia—including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka—who will come together to build cross-border networks, enhance their leadership skills, and collaboratively address regional challenges through civic engagement and innovation.
These young leaders will engage with representatives from the U.S. Department of State, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the East-West Center, as well as regional and international organizations—all united by a shared commitment to driving positive social change.

University of Peshawar Congratulates Its New Vice Chancellor

The University of Peshawar is proud to announce the appointment of Prof. Dr. Johar Ali as its new Vice Chancellor.

With an illustrious career spanning over 34 years in teaching, research, and academic leadership, Dr. Johar Ali brings a wealth of experience and visionary insight to the role. His distinguished journey in academia includes prominent positions such as:

University of Peshawar celebrates World Autism Day.

The University of Peshawar's Department of Psychology observed World Autism Day, attended by children with autism, their parents, students, and faculty members.

A walk was organized, followed by a ceremony in the main hall after cutting a cake. Professor Dr. Erum Irshad, Chairperson of the Department of Psychology, briefed the audience about autism, emphasizing that it can be managed with proper training, support and resources.

The department has established an Autism Center to provide training and support to children with autism, helping them reach their full potential.

مطالعہ کی اہمیت

مطالعہ انسان کی فکری اور علمی ترقی کا سنگِ بنیاد ہے۔ یہ نہ صرف ذہنی صلاحیتوں کی افزائش کا ذریعہ ہے بلکہ انسان کو نئے افکار و نظریات سے ہمکنار کر کے اس کی فہم و بصیرت کو جلا بخشتا ہے۔ جس طرح آسمان پر چاندنی رات کو اجالتی ہے، اسی طرح مطالعہ انسان کی زندگی میں علم کی روشنی پھیلانے کا وسیلہ بنتا ہے۔ مطالعہ کی بدولت انسان ہر دور کے علم و حکمت سے آشنا ہو کر اپنے موجودہ افکار کو نئی بلندیوں تک پہنچا سکتا ہے۔

سب سے پہلے تو یہ سمجھنا ضروری ہے کہ مطالعہ انسان کو مختلف علوم و فنون سے متعارف کراتا ہے۔ علم کی کوئی حد نہیں، اور جب انسان مطالعہ کرتا ہے تو وہ ہر موضوع پر اپنے افکار کو وسیع کرتا ہے۔ ادب، فلسفہ، تاریخ، اور سائنسی ترقیات کی کتابیں انسان کے ذہن کو ایک نیا زاویہ عطا کرتی ہیں۔ جیسا کہ کہا گیا ہے، "علم روشنی ہے، جو اندھیروں کو دور کرتی ہے۔" یہی علم انسان کے اندھیروں کو اجالے میں بدل دیتا ہے اور اس کی زندگی میں ایک نئی بصیرت کا آغاز ہوتا ہے۔

دوسرا پہلو یہ ہے کہ مطالعہ انسان کی تخلیقی صلاحیتوں کو اجاگر کرتا ہے۔ جب انسان کسی کتاب یا مقالے کو پڑھتا ہے، تو اس کے ذہن میں نئے خیالات کی ایک نہ ختم ہونے والی دھار شروع ہو جاتی ہے۔ یہ نئے خیالات پھر نئی تخلیقات اور انوکھے حل پیدا کرتے ہیں۔ مطالعہ کا یہ عمل انسان کی تخیل کی پرواز کو بھی آزاد کرتا ہے اور اسے دنیا کی رنگینیوں سے ہم آہنگ کرتا ہے۔

مزید برآں، مطالعہ انسان کی روحانیت میں بھی گہری تبدیلیاں لاتا ہے۔ قدیم ادب اور کتابوں میں پوشیدہ اسباق اور حکمتیں انسان کو اپنی ذات کی گہرائیوں میں جھانکنے کا موقع فراہم کرتی ہیں۔ جب انسان مطالعہ کرتا ہے، تو وہ اپنے اندر کی خامیوں اور خوبیوں کو بہتر طور پر سمجھنے لگتا ہے، اور اس کی زندگی میں روحانی سکون اور ذہنی سکوت آتا ہے۔

مطالعہ کا ایک اور نہایت اہم پہلو یہ ہے کہ یہ انسان کے علم و فہم کو وسعت بخشتا ہے اور اسے مختلف شعبوں میں مہارت حاصل کرنے کی صلاحیت عطا کرتا ہے۔ وہ چاہے سائنس ہو، ادب ہو یا تاریخ، مطالعہ انسان کو ہر میدان میں تفصیل سے آگاہ کرتا ہے۔ یہ انسان کو نہ صرف اس کے موجودہ حالات میں کامیاب بناتا ہے، بلکہ اسے مستقبل کے چیلنجز کا مقابلہ کرنے کے لیے بھی تیار کرتا ہے۔

علاوہ ازیں، مطالعہ انسان کی اخلاقی تربیت میں بھی اہم کردار ادا کرتا ہے۔ مختلف کتابوں میں پیش آنے والی کہانیاں، اسباق، اور فلسفے انسان کو اپنی اخلاقی ذمہ داریوں کا شعور دلاتے ہیں اور اسے نیک عمل کرنے کی ترغیب دیتے ہیں۔ انسان کے اندر بلند و بالا اخلاقی اقدار کی جڑیں مضبوط ہوتی ہیں، جب وہ ماضی کے عظیم شخصیات اور ان کے افکار سے روشناس ہوتا ہے۔

آخرکار، مطالعہ انسان کو ایک بہتر معاشرتی رکن بننے کی صلاحیت بھی دیتا ہے۔ جب انسان مختلف نوعیت کے افکار و نظریات کو پڑھتا ہے، تو وہ دنیا کو مختلف زاویوں سے دیکھنے کی صلاحیت پیدا کرتا ہے۔ اس کی سوچ میں تنوع آتا ہے اور وہ معاشرتی سطح پر اپنے افکار کا بہتر اظہار کرنے میں کامیاب ہوتا ہے۔

یقیناً، مطالعہ ایک ایسا عمل ہے جس کا کوئی بدل نہیں۔ یہ انسان کی فکری و ذہنی نشونما کا واحد ذریعہ ہے۔ اس کی اہمیت ہر دور میں محسوس کی گئی ہے اور اس کی جڑیں علم و حکمت کی دنیا میں اس قدر گہری ہیں کہ اسے نظر انداز کرنا ممکن نہیں۔ جس طرح درخت کی جڑیں زمین میں مضبوطی سے جڑی ہوتی ہیں، اسی طرح مطالعہ انسان کی فکری زندگی کی جڑ ہے جو اسے مضبوط اور متوازن بناتی ہے۔

خلاصہ:

مطالعہ انسان کی فکری، ذہنی اور اخلاقی ترقی میں ایک بنیادی ستون کی مانند ہے۔ یہ نہ صرف انسان کے علم و فہم کو بڑھاتا ہے بلکہ اس کی تخلیقی صلاحیتوں کو جلا بخشتا ہے اور اسے بہتر معاشرتی رکن بناتا ہے۔ مطالعہ کے ذریعے انسان نہ صرف اپنی زندگی کے مقصد کو سمجھتا ہے بلکہ ایک کامیاب، باوقار اور روشن مستقبل کی جانب قدم بڑھاتا ہے۔

Team Khyber Law College(4th semester)secured a remarkable victory at the 2nd Edwardes National Moot Court Competition, defeating Team Bahria University in the finals. The team comprised

Their outstanding advocacy skills led them to triumph, with Mr. Ali Abdullah also earning the prestigious Best Speaker award.

MS Defense

Ms.Uroosha Arooj worked on a research topic titled as assessing the dry eye prevalence in smog affected areas, gulberg Town, and lahore City.

Miss Uroosha Qazi has successfully defended her MS dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Saeeda Yousaf Department of Environmental Science,University of Peshawar. Her external examiner was Dr. Adnan,Associate Professor Department of Botany, Kohat University of Science and Technology.
