Arzoo Khan Social Activist

A meeting was held today between the Manzil foundation/transgender community and the district administration Nowshehra. Deputy Commissioner Nowshehra Irfan Ullah Mehsud contacted Manzil Foundation through its focal person Khawar and requested a meeting with President of the Transgender Community, Madam Arzoo Khan.

The DC stated that he wanted to meet first and discuss the matter, assuring that if the concerns were addressed satisfactorily, the strike would be reconsidered; otherwise, it would remain the community’s right to continue.

Today, a delegation of transgender individuals including

president of transgender community KP visited the DC office, where a meeting took place with Arzoo Khan, focal person Khawar, DC Irfan Ullah Mehsud, and staff member Awais. During the meeting, the administration acknowledged their mistake and apologized for missing names from the list. The DC personally assured that such an oversight would not happen again.

As compensation for the missed relief package, it was promised that three wheelchairs would be provided within two days. Additionally, the DC contacted an organization and assured that food packages would also be arranged for the community.

A commitment was made that if these promises are not fulfilled, the community will resume protest and continue to stand for their rights. However, if fulfilled, it will reflect the positive cooperation of the district administration.

Furthermore, the focal person of Manzil Foundation, Khawar, was officially registered at the DC office. All future coordination and distribution of ration will be managed through him.

Today’s meeting was very successful. On this occasion, Arzoo Khan, Provincial President of the Transgender Community, expressed her sincere gratitude to DC Irfan Ullah Mehsud.

We raised our collective voice for protection and safety of transgender persons, better livelihood opportunities, job quota and financial support schemes, inclusion in social services, relief schemes, institutional accountability and sensitization, dignity as a fundamental right, access to basic health rights, and ensuring separate and respectful spaces in hospitals. We also discussed the importance of strengthening Tahafuz Centers for the protection and support of the transgender community.

True inclusion begins when rights are recognized, respected, and protected. Every transgender person deserves safety, dignity, equality, and opportunities to live with pride.

The 3rd day Dua (Qul) of transgender person Dilbar Sara was arranged by Manzil Foundation and transgender community gathered to pray for her soul and demand justice for Sara, who lost her life due to brutal violence.

The KP Transgender Community President and Manzil Foundation executive Director stated that unfortunately, the perpetrator is still at large, and the community continues to demand immediate arrest of those responsible and protection for transgender persons in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

We urge authorities to ensure swift justice and take serious measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
