Inspectorate of Mines Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

During an inspection of various laterite quarries, mining sites in District Abbottabad, the Inspector of Mines Abbottabad observed multiple violations of mine safety regulations and operational standards. The Mine Manager was directed to undertake proper bench development of the quarry, reduce excessive face height, and remove all overhanging material and loose boulders to ensure compliance with prescribed safety measures and safe mining practices.

In addition, instructions were issued to maintain proper registers and site records, and to provide suitable accommodation facilities for labourers at the site.
Furthermore, the lease holder was served with a notice under Section 28 and imposed a fine for violations of the Mine Safety Inspection and Regulation Act, 2019.

A Training and Awareness Seminar was organized by the Inspectorate of Mines, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for underground and surface mine workers as well as management staff working in Harnoi (Dhamthor), District Abbottabad.

A large number of mining workers, supervisory staff, and management representatives actively participated in the training session.

The Chief Inspector of Mines, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Director Training, Headquarter Office Peshawar, Rescue Superintendent MRSTC, Inspector of Mines Abbottabad, and Health & Safety Officer of Grand Exploration Mining Co, attended the program and delivered comprehensive lectures on mine safety, mine management, safe and proper use of explosives, welfare schemes for mine workers, and preventive measures to avoid mining accidents.

The participants were also briefed on the importance of adopting safety standards, emergency response procedures, and maintaining a safe working environment in mines.

At the conclusion of the seminar, certificates were distributed among the participants. The attendees highly appreciated the training session and expressed their interest in arranging such informative programs regularly for the welfare and safety of mine workers.

An inspection visit was conducted by the Inspector of Mines Chitral to the granite leases located in the Golain area of District Lower Chitral. During the visit, detailed inspections were carried out regarding mine safety measures and the implementation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines Safety, Inspection and Regulation Act, 2019 (KPMSIR 2019).

During the inspection, various irregularities and safety concerns were observed at different working sites. On-the-spot directions were issued to the mine management for immediate rectification and compliance with safety standards. Furthermore, notices and penalties were imposed against the violations of the aforementioned Act in accordance with the relevant provisions of the law.

The Department remains committed to ensuring safe mining operations, protection of workers, and strict implementation of mining laws and safety regulations across the district.

The Rescue Superintendent MRSTC, Inspector of mines Abbottabad & Manager Mining Bestway Cement Ltd (Hattar) participated in the training program and delivered detailed lectures to the participants on mine safety, mine management, proper use of explosives, welfare schemes, and prevention of mine accidents.
The Assistant Commissioner Khanpur from the District Administration made a special participation in the event and appreciated the training session.

At the conclusion of the training, certificates were distributed among the participants & they highly appreciated the training session.

A joint technical inspection visit was conducted by the Inspector of Mines Swat/MKD, AD Technical mineral department Malakand, Surveyor mineral department Malakand, along with the Deputy Director PKHA and consultants from UET Lahore to assess the possible impact of mine blasting activities on the nearby Swat Expressway tunnels and surrounding infrastructure.

During the visit, detailed discussions and field observations were carried out regarding controlled blasting practices, vibration limits, and safety measures being implemented at the mining site. The consultants from UET Lahore conducted vibration monitoring tests using geophones to scientifically evaluate the impact of blasting on the nearby tunnels and infrastructure.

The inspection aimed to ensure that mining activities are carried out in a safe and controlled manner while protecting public infrastructure and maintaining environmental and operational safety standards.

Such collaborative efforts between mining authorities, technical experts, and infrastructure departments reflect a strong commitment toward sustainable mining practices and public safety in the region.

Senior Inspector of Mines, Mardan Division, along with Assistant Commissioner Mines Labour Welfare Mardan, held a meeting with all Mining Engineers and Geologists working in the Division at her office to discuss implementation of mine safety laws and registration of mine labourers. The meeting emphasized strengthening safety standards, legal compliance, and welfare measures for mine workers across the Division.

ٹریننگ کے اختتام پر شرکاء میں سرٹیفکیٹ تقسیم کئے گئے اور شرکاء کی طرف سے ٹریننگ پروگرام کو سراہا گیا۔

دورانِ معائنہ، حفاظتی نقطۂ نظر سے بعض خطرناک کانوں کو موقع پر ہی بند کر دیا گیا۔
اس موقع پر مائن منیجر اور مائن میٹ کو ہدایت دی گئی کہ وہ خیبر پختونخوا مائنز سیفٹی، انسپکشن اینڈ ریگولیشن ایکٹ 2019 کے قواعد و ضوابط پر سختی سے عملدرآمد یقینی بنائیں۔
مزید برآں، اس امر پر زور دیا گیا کہ مزدوروں کی حفاظت اولین ترجیح ہے اور اس ضمن میں ہر ممکن احتیاطی تدابیر اختیار کی جائیں۔

Chief Inspector of Mines KPK paid a surprise visit to the Regional Office Abbottabad. Accompanied by the Chief Inspector of Mines, Senior Inspector of Mines HQ, Senior Inspector of Mines Abbottabad, and Inspector of Mines Abbottabad, visited different soapstone mines in the region.

During the visit, he appreciated the Mine Manager and lease holders for following the prescribed safety precautions. He also directed them to further enhance and continue implementing safety protocols to ensure better mining practices.

He further emphasized that mining activities should be carried out in a more systematic and professional manner to improve operational standards and workplace safety.
