Khyber Pakhtunkhwa SDGs Support Unit organized consultative sessions for I-Consult with 21 provincial departments in connection to a policy research / study titled as “Data Driven District Profiling & Preparation of District Development Plans and M&E Framework for 20 Least Developed Districts in Pakistan”.

SDGs Support Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa supported UNDP Country Office to organize consultations on preparing the National Human Development Report (NHDR) focusing “Leveraging Digital Transformation for Human Development”. Representatives from Health Department, Education Department, KP-IT Board, National Incubation Center, Directorate of Provincial Development (DPD) and Transgender Community were part of these consultations.

SDGs Support Unit jointly with Directorate of Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized an awareness raising seminar on SDGs for students and faculty members of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Women University Peshawar. Speakers and participants discussed “The Role of Academia in implementation of SDGs”. Muhammad Sajjad (Socio-Economic Specialist) and Mr. Hamid Ahmed (Environment Specialist) represented the Unit in the seminar.

SDGs Support Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a consultative session regarding “Policy Study on Economic and Youth Development in Newly Merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”. It aimed to discuss and finalize the approach and methodology of the study. Additional Deputy Commissioners (Finance & Planning), Planning Officers from newly merged areas along with representatives from SMEDA, TEVTA, Agriculture Department, KP-BOIT, KP-IT Board, Women Chamber of Commerce and Women-Led NGOs of NMDs were in attendance of the session.

SDGs Support Unit- KP, organized an event on International Women's Day, in collaboration with the IM Sciences, Peshawar. The event paid tribute to women entrepreneurs from KP who have harnessed technology & innovation to succeed in life and businesses. The expert panelists shared their experience and provided recommendations on how technology can be leveraged to achieve Goal 5 - Gender Equality. Faculty members, students, representatives from Women Chamber of Commerce, Private Sector and CSOs were in attendance of the event.

SDGs Support Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa facilitated and assisted National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) and UNFPA to organize a consultative session on “Women in the Era of Digitalization” at Serena Hotel Peshawar. The session aimed to provide inputs / recommendations for the preparation of a comprehensive report capturing current initiatives and future needs. This will be presented at the upcoming United Nations Commission on Status of Women (UN-CSW) in March 2023. Ms. Neelofar Bakhtiar (Chairperson NSCW) was a chief guest on the occasion. Other participants included representatives from government departments, UN agencies, Women Chamber of Commerce, academia, local NGOs, private sector, media and youth.

SDGs Support Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has developed Accelerated Implementation Framework (AIF) for Education, Health, Agriculture and Energy Sectors with the objective to expediate progress towards the achievement of SDGs in the province. In this regard meetings were held with the respective Technical Working Groups (TWGs) for final presentations on the Frameworks.

SDGs Support Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa jointly with the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) organized a seminar on "SDGs & the Role of Universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa". Mr. Hamid Ahmed (Environmental Specialist) Mr. Muhammad Sajjad (Social Economics Specialist) and Muhammad Farid (Data & Research Analyst) represented the Unit and briefed the audience on UN Agenda 2030, the mandate of the SDGs Support Unit and its achievement. Faculty members and students of UET were in attendance of the session.

SDGs Support Unit KP organized a seminar jointly with the IMSceiences Peshawar on account of 16 Days of Activism Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence. Faculty members of IMSciences, students and representatives of CSOs were in attendance.

Representatives from International Organization for Migration (IOM) Country Office and KP Office including Mr. Saif Ullah (National Project Officer), Mr. Asad Shahzad (Provincial Coordinator) and, Muhammad Farhan (Project Support Assistant) met with Mr. Sohail Khan (Director General-SDU, P&DD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and SDGs Support Unit KP to discuss implementation of research study on “Understanding the Human Mobility Patterns” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The said study will be conducted initially in Peshawar and Khyber districts of the province which will be extended to other parts of KP in the second phase.

SDGs Support Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a consultative session jointly with GDP Cell Bureau of Statistics GoKP on “Developing Regional Accounts for estimation of Tourism's sector contribution in Provincial GDP”. Representatives from relevant provincial departments, regional development authorities and hotels associations were in attendance.
