🇬🇧 This week, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism is hosting Children and Armed Conflict: A Critical Component of the Emerging Global Peace and Human Security Framework - the first conference of the Malta Convenor Series.

This Conference is bringing together Member States, United Nations representatives and civil society in Valletta to reaffirm the shared responsibility to protect children affected by armed conflict.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg, opened the conference together with the United Nations Under Secretary General and Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children and Armed Conflict, Vanessa Frazier.

Earlier this morning, H.E. Simon Pullicino presented to H.E. Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, a message of solidarity from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, the Hon. Dr. Ian Borg addressed to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

Both sides also discussed the latest developments in the region and reiterated their commitment to promote de-escalation with a view to achieving a lasting diplomatic solution that ensures the security and stability of the entire region.
