END OF YEAR RECAP
In 2025, the Environment, Climate, and Natural Resources Sector has made remarkable progress in protecting natural resources and strengthening climate resilience.
Here’s a look at the key milestones:
🟢The Development Bank of Rwanda was officially accredited by Green Climate Fund . This milestone strengthens the commitment to driving climate action and sustainable development for a greener, more resilient future.
🟢The National Land Authority launched the Rwanda Land Dashboard. This dashboard provides real-time data enabling data driven policies for our development to align with sustainable land management for future generations.
🟢The Cabinet approved Rwanda's Green Taxonomy which aligns public and private sector investments with national environmental and climate.
🟢The parliament approved a law on the plastic levy, which is another milestone in Rwanda’s journey of reducing plastic pollution for healthier communities and a cleaner environment.
🟢Rwanda and Singapore signed an Implementation Agreement on the carbon market. This marked a key milestone in implementing Rwanda’s carbon market framework.
🟢Rwanda hosted the 11th Regional Dialogue on Biodiversity Finance aimed to advance innovative approaches to biodiversity finance by linking public policy reform with financial instruments and fostering partnerships with the private sector.
🟢Rwanda launched the Campaign. The campaign aimes at encouraging the public to undergo vehicle emission testing to reduce air pollution, protect the environment, and promote public health.
🟢During the , Rwanda launched its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan. The strategy represents a significant milestone in the country’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
🟢Rwanda hosted the World Congress on Agroforestry 2025 in Kigali. Leaders, scientists, and practitioners from across the globe were gathered to explore how agroforestry can drive sustainable food systems, climate resilience, and livelihoods. 🌳
🟢Rwanda joined the world at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bellem, Brazil known as . Over two weeks, Rwanda’s delegation highlighted why the country is an ideal destination for green investment.
🟢Rwanda updated its Climate Action Plan (NDC 3.0) to build resilience, reduce emissions and manage climate risks up to 2035. 🇷🇼🌿.
