Saudi Aquaculture Society

:Establishment
, Council of Ministers led by
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, agreed to establish the Saudi
Aquaculture Society on 06/02/2012. This Society has a legal entity and financially
independent, working under supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, with
headquarters in Jeddah. His highness Minister of Agriculture Dr. / Fahd ben
Abdulrahman Al Ghuneim then issued a ministerial resolution on 16/02/2012 to
form a foundation assembly for the Aquaculture Society, including Eng. Dina Abdullah Al Faris – Haydar Al Sahtout – Nasir Ali Al
Mansur – Musaid Abdulrahman Al Fayiz. The resolution specified tasks of the
foundation assembly, which were ended by election of Board of Directors of the
Association. The Society held its first meeting on 20/10/2012, and elected the president,
Vice president and members of Board of Directors as follows:

Saudi Aquaculture Society Objectives:
The Society aims to promote the aquaculture industry and its products and
all that could develop this sector, and in particular the following:
Participation in preparation of conditions and standards applied in
aquaculture industry and its products so as to be approved by
competent authorities. Study rules, regulations and standards of aquaculture industry and its
products, recommend amendments and submit them to competent
authorities. Suggest mechanisms of monitoring and checking methods and
submit them to competent authorities. Recommend granting, amendment and withdrawal of licenses and
submit them to competent authorities. Coordinate with competent authorities to grant a slogan for
companies applying aquaculture production standards, in conformity
with international standards. Study difficulties facing aquaculture industry, recommend solutions
and submit them to competent authorities. Coordination with competent authorities to hold conferences,
exhibitions and seminars on aquaculture, and participate in them
inside and outside the Kingdom. Suggest areas of researches and studies in aquaculture products and
marketing and submit them to competent authorities. Provide technical advice in the field of competence as per regulations
approved by the Board of Directors. Represent members of the Association with the official, professional,
scientific and commercial bodies inside and outside the Kingdom,
after coordination with Ministry of Agriculture.
