🌡️ Meteorological Service Singapore has advised that El Niño conditions are expected to develop between June and July 2026, bringing warmer and drier weather to Singapore and the surrounding region in the second half of the year.

This may increase the risk of vegetation and peatland fires in the region, which could lead to transboundary haze episodes affecting Singapore’s air quality.

📋 Employers are reminded to follow MOM’s haze guidelines and tripartite advisories (www.mom.gov.sg/haze) and prepare to protect employees from the effects of haze, including:

✅ Conducting mask fit testing for employees who are required to work outdoors
✅ Improving efficiency of air filter devices to maintain good indoor air quality
✅ Implementing haze communication system as part of companies’ haze-related Business Continuity Plans

Employers are also encouraged to monitor official advisories via NEA’s website, the myENV app, and government social media channels.
