*Monthly Scam Bulletin #5 (15 May 2026)*
“Hello, remember me?” If you have heard this from a call, be wary and exercise caution!🚨
Scammers are posing as friends to trick you into transferring money urgently.
In some instances, after money transfer has been made, some victims have even received a follow up call from a scammer posing as a police officer, alleging that the earlier transfer was linked to criminal activities.
Victims would be asked to transfer more money to a “safety account” to support investigations.
*How you can protect yourself*:
‼️Always verify who you are speaking to and never transfer money to unknown persons.
⚠️Government officials, including the Police, will never ask you to transfer money or hand over valuables over a phone call.
*Unsure if it’s a scam? Call and check with the 24/7 ScamShield Helpline at 1799 ☎️*

On 7 May 2026, the Commanding Officer of Bishan Neighbourhood Police Centre presented a Letter of Appreciation to a public-spirited resident for rendering timely assistance to his neighbour, helping to prevent a potential grievous hurt incident.
His swift actions and strong sense of civic responsibility played a vital role in keeping the community safe and serve as an inspiring example of looking out for one another.
Thank you for partnering us in building a safer and more caring neighbourhood.
To strengthen awareness against fights, theft, scams, and unlicensed moneylending, Bishan Neighbourhood Police Centre partnered with Hwa Seng-Chye Joo-Ho Lee Joint Venture for an interactive crime prevention engagement session.
Officers from the Community Policing Unit shared real-life scam and crime cases, equipping migrant workers with practical knowledge to spot warning signs, stay vigilant, and protect themselves and their peers.
More than just raising awareness, the session reinforced a shared responsibility in building a safer and more secure community for all.
