As part of their inaugural visit to Singapore, members of ECDA’s International Advisory Committee (IAC) met Minister Masagos Zulkifli and Senior Minister of State Goh Pei Ming 吴培铭 to exchange views on advancing the Quality Preschools 2030 plan.

The IAC members also visited preschools and an early intervention centre, and engaged educators, researchers and sector leaders to deepen their understanding of Singapore’s early childhood landscape and inform their advice over the Committee’s three-year term.

Singapore’s efforts to strengthen early childhood care and education are grounded in our local context and experience. At the same time, we remain open to learning from others. International perspectives can help us reflect on our policies and programmes, challenge our assumptions, and sharpen how we support our children and families. All government funded preschool have now attained SPARK certification - an assurance that they operate quality standard preschools.

I'm happy that ECDA continues to pursue better quality standards and practice in our preschools through their vision of Quality Preschools 2030. They have formed an International Advisory Committee (IAC) to bring global insights to complement our strong local expertise. Senior Minister of State Goh Pei Ming 吴培铭, who chairs the IAC, and I met the five members in Singapore and exchanged views on how we can achieve our vision.

Over the past two days, the IAC members visited our preschools and an early intervention centre. They also met with our educators, researchers and sector leaders to gain insights into Singapore’s early childhood landscape. I was encouraged by the rich exchanges and their genuine interest in understanding Singapore's unique context. They saw first-hand the passion and professionalism of our educators, and gained a deeper appreciation of the efforts across our sector to give every child a good start in life.

These interactions will help anchor the IAC’s advice in our local context, laying the foundation for deeper engagement over its three-year term, as we work together to shape the next chapter of quality early childhood care and education in Singapore.

ECDA has formed an International Advisory Committee (IAC), chaired by Senior Minister of State Goh Pei Ming 吴培铭 bringing together five leading early childhood experts from around the world.

Over the next three years, the Committee will bring international perspectives together with strong local expertise to support Singapore’s Quality Preschools 2030 plan and strengthen preschool quality, giving every child a good start in life.
