Farm Tour at City Sprouts Henderson
In a wonderful collaboration between LCCS Project Up families, City Sprouts, and dedicated volunteers from Woh Hup Food, we embarked on a meaningful community engagement experience. The fun-filled and educational trip to an urban farm in the Redhill-Henderson vicinity brought us closer to nature and sustainability. From farm to table, we enjoyed the freshest produce. We made Pandan egg tarts and Ondeh Ondeh, culminating in a truly sumptuous treat!

Last Saturday, parents from Project Up came together to share their hopes and dreams for their children, and voice their parenting concerns. We are grateful for this open dialogue!

The feedback we received is invaluable β€” it helps us design upcoming parenting workshops that truly meet the needs of our families. The session was held simultaneously at our Bukit Merah office and Chong Pang RC.

A big thank you to our volunteers who kept the children meaningfully engaged while the discussion with the parents were ongoing.❀

Special thanks to Samuel and Wei Wei from .families . Thank you for spending your Saturday with us, listening to the sharing by our families, and identifying potential topics for the subsequent parenting workshops.
We are excited about this collaboration, and we look forward to the upcoming customised parenting workshops!

Stay tune for more information~

Can savings be a game? Yes it can! We were given the opportunity to trial β€œSuperSavers”, a game developed by ActSEA (Action for Change in Southeast Asia). We invited our families to join us in this demo version, where the person with the highest savings wins! The game offered realistic scenarios, allowing players to make decisions that impacted their financial situation and savings. It was a fun morning that helped us understand more about our financial decisions as we encounter different opportunities and challenges throughout the course of the game. Thank you ActSEA and our Project Up families for the fun morning together!

Project Up supports families to thrive in areas of employment, savings, education, relationships and community connections. To find out more, contact us at [email protected]

It has been a week since the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) participants departed from Singapore, but memories of our time together remain fresh in our hearts.

These 16 students and faculty members were hosted by Community Care Services (LCCS) as part of their learning journey into restorative practices in Singapore. We introduced them to our work with the community, and watched β€œStories of 78” together, which featured the video stories of Mdm Loke and Mdm Esah. We then facilitated a circle for the participants to share their reflections of the videos and how it connected with them. Some participants spoke words of encouragement for Mdm Esah- who was present for the session, while others reflected about their loved ones who cared deeply for them over the years. While Mdm Loke was unable to join us, we feasted on the mini kok chai (peanut puffs) that she made, as we shared about her annual tradition of making this snack during Chinese New Year.

We also conducted the Tree of Life activity which invited participants to reconnect with their values, culture and relationships. Participants used their creativity to draw and pen down each part of the tree that represented different aspects of their lives.

It was a fruitful morning of insightful sharing and learning from each other’s experiences as it also brought home the message that no one is truly alone in their lives. There is always someone we can count on or to connect with when things get tough.

Thank you to the participants and Mdm Esah for spending the time together, and for their vulnerable sharing and encouragements to one another.

to last Friday; our 2nd year of making CNY ornaments using red packets! Our dedicated ladies in the community gathered together to make lanterns for some of the elderly in their community at Blk 78. We are grateful for the community's generosity in providing a space (their homes), food, materials, and their knowledge and skills in making these beautiful ornaments. It was heartwarming to see how neighbours of different races, with the same passion for crafts, coming together to teach and learn from one another during this festive season. Our hearts are so full! ❀

PM us for more information if you are interested to join in for other craft making sessions! (:

We shared about Mdm Loke's story of personal sacrifices and love for her family as part of our community outreach last month. This week, we reveal another tradition that Mdm Loke holds dear to her heart. Watch this video to find out more about Mdm Loke's annual tradition of making these delicious mini kok chais (peanut puffs)!
