Ignorance is Bliss presents a broken tree trunk and the shells of snails. The creature that once inhabited them is absent, leaving only a quiet trace.

The work reflects on the fragile balance between awareness and peace. At times, not seeing, not knowing, or not speaking allows harmony to remain - like a small being that retreats into its shell and passes through the world unnoticed.

Sneak look inside a Pasir Ris tree reveals the two commonly known Chinese names of Pasir Ris “白沙” (in 小篆 ancient Chinese font, carved 朱文 Chinese seal style) and “巴西立” (carved 白文 Chinese seal style) engraved therein.

Artwork Description: This artwork brings forward a recreated model originally produced almost two decades ago as a functional step in the mould-making process for a ceramic piece. Once intended to remain invisible — a temporary structure serving the demands of production — the model is now repositioned as the final work itself.

The sculpture speaks to the intelligence of making: the physical thinking that occurs through the hands as materials are cut, shaped, assembled, and reconsidered. Artistic practice is rarely linear; it is a layered negotiation between intention and matter. Yet these formative objects are often discarded or forgotten once the resolved artwork emerges.

By shifting the model from process to presence, the work questions what we choose to value in art. It honours the quiet architectures that support creation and recognises process not as preparation, but as a meaningful and complete expression. What was once transitional is now permanent — the model now re-emerges as an artwork in its own right.
这件艺术作品呈现了一个重新制作的模型，该模型最初在近二十年前作为陶瓷
作品制模过程中的功能性步骤而产生。这个模型曾经被设计为隐形的——一个

通过将模型从过程转向呈现，这件作品质疑我们在艺术中选择重视什么。它致
敬那些支撑创作的安静建筑，并将过程视为不是准备工作，而是有意义且完整
的表达。曾经过渡性的东西现在变成了永恒的——模型现在重新作为一件独立
的艺术作品出现。

Artwork Description: The form of the wood sculptures strives on the notions of ambiguities and the idea
of being amorphous. A state of mind where resolution is not explicit, just like the many complexities in life that are neither white nor black but replete with grey. It follows the same thread in the same series, shifting a gathering of biomorphic curves, repeating and overlapping across its planes to create dynamics in the form, bringing the fragmented sentiments of grow and regrowth within the dormant form.
