🇸🇬🇹🇿
Not everything memorable happens on the official programme.
In Stone Town, we saw a group of boys jumping off the pier into the sea.
One after another.
Some really high.
With complete confidence.
Before long, everyone had stopped to watch.
Small moments, but they captured the energy and spirit of Zanzibar better than any itinerary could.
They are the Zanzibar Pier Jumping Boys.

[🇸🇬 🇹🇿 Advancing Singapore–Tanzania Cooperation]
Today's discussions focused on how Singapore and Tanzania can deepen cooperation across areas such as economic development, education, connectivity, food systems and capacity building, while exploring new opportunities in skills development, technical and vocational education and training, and carbon markets.
The exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding, together with the establishment of bilateral consultations between our foreign ministries, provides a framework for turning shared priorities into practical cooperation and sustained outcomes.
The Singapore–Tanzania Business Forum also brought together businesses and institutions from both countries to explore opportunities for trade, investment and knowledge exchange.
Across the various engagements today, one theme surfaced repeatedly: the importance of investing in people. Whether through education, skills or economic opportunity, lasting progress is built on the ability of people to realise their potential and contribute to their communities.
That is a lesson that resonates across countries, regardless of where they are on their development journey.

[🇸🇬🇹🇿President’s State Visit to Tanzania 2026]
This year marks 45 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Tanzania.
It is also the first State Visit by a President of Singapore to Tanzania.
Over the next few days, I will be joining President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and the Singapore delegation (Min Indranee Rajah, MOS Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, MOS Alvin Tan 陈圣辉and fellow MP Cai Yinzhou 蔡引舟) as we engage counterparts across government, institutions and sectors.
For Singapore, staying connected to the world is essential. Our resilience depends not only on strong partnerships, but also on understanding how others are navigating change and creating opportunities for their people.
I look forward to the conversations ahead.

[🫱🏻🫲🏻 Harmony in Community Through Sport 🏸🏀]
Sports have a unique way of bringing people together across different races, religions, ages and backgrounds.
At the Chua Chu Kang GRC & Bukit Gombak SMC Basketball and Badminton Community Championship held at Tengah CC, residents gathered not just to compete, but to encourage one another, build friendships and share in the excitement of the games. It was heartening to see players, supporters and volunteers from all walks of life coming together as one community.
Together with Ag Min Jeffrey Siow (萧振祥) we had the opportunity to meet many participants whose passion, sportsmanship and mutual respect made the event truly special.
Recent events serve as a reminder that Singapore’s racial and religious harmony should never be taken for granted. Strong communities are built when people of different backgrounds interact, understand one another and develop shared experiences. Sports provide one such platform, creating opportunities for friendships to form and bonds to grow across communities.
A big thank you to all participants, supporters, volunteers and organisers for making the championship possible. Together, we can continue building a harmonious, inclusive and united Tengah for all. ❤️
[🚶♀️ Enhancing Safety at Tengah’s Plantation Plaza Retail Street 🚴]
Dear Residents,
We are making our shared spaces in Tengah safer and more family-friendly. If you are visiting Plantation Plaza today, you may notice new bicycle barriers installed at key locations along the retail street.
The barriers are located at two crossing points between McDonald’s and KFC, as well as at the entrance beside Minmed Clinic. These are areas with higher pedestrian traffic where residents, families, shoppers and cyclists regularly share the same space.
The barriers are designed to encourage riders to slow down and dismount when entering busier pedestrian areas, helping to reduce the risk of collisions while ensuring sufficient space for wheelchairs, mobility aids and strollers to pass through comfortably. ♿👶🏻
This is a project by our very own Plantation Village Residents’ Network Plantation Village Residents’ Network. Thank you to Plantation Plaza’s management team, HDB Housing & Development Board and Town Council for working with us to enhance the safety of residents and visitors. 🙏🏻

[Meet-the-People Session at Tengah]
We were delighted to hear of some successes from previous appeals. They may seem small to some, but they represent a milestone and an upward turn in life circumstances. There were also issues trickier to resolve, such as neighbour disputes. Such matters require both hands to clap — the openness to step out of comfort zones and explore all viable possibilities is much appreciated. Thank you to all for the patience as we work together to resolve things.
I also want to appreciate my team of volunteers who try their best to support residents no matter what. In this session in particular, team members tried to help despite nursing an arm injury and an ankle sprain. Your presence speaks of your dedication. 🙏🏻🍀🍀

[🌿 Plantation Grove: Updates on the Tengah New Park in front of Blks 118A to 120B]
We have been following up on the progress of the new park in front of blocks 118A to 120B with NParks and know residents are keen for its completion. Upon hearing some of the challenges, we met up with NParks to find out more.
As the plot traverses sites of HDB Housing & Development Board, LTA Land Transport Authority – We Keep Your World Moving, PUB PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency and NParks NParks, there is much inter-agency coordination to be done and setback with one can accumulate and result in eventual delay. This development is also part of a larger project that transcends our Tengah division, hence careful prioritisation planning needs to be done.
We are glad we managed to tighten inter-agency cooperation on a few critical areas so NParks can progress its works smoothly. Through strategising and prioritising several key works, we are very pleased to share the park’s completion remains on track as previously shared. See previous post: https://www.facebook.com/share/1e1ZzEAFhG/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Our discussion also focused on how residents will navigate through the park, including access points, path connections, crossings, and proximity of these to nearby bus stops and surrounding neighbourhoods.
To follow up on the discussion, we will conduct a site visit to survey and review the proposed pathways and connections. The aim is to optimise accessibility and convenience where possible for the benefit of residents.
We appreciate the constructive discussion and partnership with NParks. 🙏🏻
