True or False: Singapore’s workforce learns equally, and outcomes depend mainly on individual effort.

Conventional wisdom tells us one thing, but the data from our latest Skills and Learning Survey (SLS) 2 tells a more nuanced story. It reveals that more than people’s willingness to learn, what really shapes capability growth is how jobs are designed to let learning happen.

Scaling a heritage brand is often less about increasing production and more about reimagining human potential.

With just 10 people, Rumah Kim Choo crafts handmade Peranakan kebayas and cultural products. When demand surged, they focused on scaling their staff, transforming retail staff into cultural ambassadors, storytellers, and artisans. This shift proves small teams can build big capabilities through workplace learning.

Rumah Kim Choo was among 28 organisations recognised at the Learning Enterprise Alliance (LEA) Awards 2026. Themed "Navigating Tomorrow Together," the ceremony celebrated a network of over 180 members committed to turning human capital into a sustained competitive edge through strategic collaboration.

Is your organisation “skills-first”?

Real talk: A tertiary education doesn’t always tell you if someone can actually do the work they were hired to do. Moving beyond traditional job hierarchies will need a fundamental rethink of how we value our employees’ potential.

The Centre for Skills-First Practices (CSFP) Working Paper 3, “Skills-First: What Does It Mean for my Organisation?” deep-dives into why the world’s most resilient companies are moving past job titles and looking at what people can actually do.

Think of skills as your business’s real currency. Are you spending yours wisely or just following an old script? Swipe through to test your “Skills-First” knowledge and see if your strategy is ready for the future of work.

Yesterday, we brought together researchers, employers, and workforce leaders at the Adult Learning Collaboratory (ALC) Symposium to address a critical question: After the training ends, are workers actually using AI in ways that improve how work gets done?

Opened by Mr Tan Kok Yam, Chairman of IAL Council and Chief Executive of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), the symposium explored the theme "Workforce Preparedness for an AI Age" to share findings from ALC's experimental efforts. This was followed by a special address by Mr Yip Hon Weng, Director of Organisation & People (Ecosystem Workforce Resilience) of Temasek, who spoke about the growing importance of AI fluency in driving meaningful impact across organisations. Assoc Prof (Practice) Terence Ho, Executive Director of IAL shared further insights on Singapore’s workforce transformation landscape, drawing from recent findings and trends shaping the adult learning.

Participants also explored industry showcases by the ALC, including Domain+ and Future-Oriented Pedagogies (FOP), alongside perspectives from industry partners. The symposium concluded with deep dive sessions, where participants engaged in further discussions and gained deeper understanding of the initiatives and research presented.

We thank everyone who contributed to these meaningful discussions and shared insights on shaping the future of work. Swipe to catch the event highlights. 👉

In an AI-driven economy, adult educators (AEs) help workers stay employable. But to do that well, they must keep growing too — just like the workforce they train.

The Training and Adult Educator Professional Pathway (TAEPP) is Singapore’s framework for professionalising the craft of adult education. Through sustained development, TAEPP ensures AEs model the continuous learning they inspire in others.

Over 9,000 AEs have registered. Swipe to see what’s driving the shift. 👉
