RMFA funds Bo-Yele-Matotoka Road Rehabilitation to Boost connectivity and Economic Growth.

The Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA) has commenced funding of a major Road Rehabilitation along the Bo-Yele-Matotoka corridor underscoring its role in strengthening Sierra Leone’s road network .

This intervention, covering 90km stretch includes rehabilitation, regravelling, and construction of culverts, aimed at improving connectivity and supporting socio-economic activities across the nation.

At the official handing over ceremony, the RMFA Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Kallon highlighted the organization’s strategic mission to provide dedicated funding for critical road maintenance projects. He explained that the project is financed entirely through the national Road Fund, to which all Sierra Leoneans contribute, and is part of RMFA’s broader agenda to ensure sustainable road maintenance, national connectivity, and economic growth.

He emphasized that the project is structured as a Performance-Based Contract, which holds contractors accountable to maintain the road to high quality standards over a three year period, ensuring safe and reliable use throughout the contract period .

RMFA, in Partnership with the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), will closely monitor the project to guarantee compliance with all performance indicators.

The CEO also called on local communities to actively participate in monitoring, describing them as the first line of oversight to ensure transparency, quality, and timely completion. He further highlighted that according to the World Bank, every dollar invested in road infrastructure generates up to four dollars in economic impact, demonstrating the significant value of RMFA’s investment to national development.

While RMFA provides the funding, the project is being supervised by SLRA and implemented by Malakoh Construction & Services, with strict adherence to performance standards.

RMFA’s oversight ensures that these standards are consistently met, linking financial accountability to tangible road improvements.

Community leaders, including the Paramount Chief, praised the Government through RMFA and SLRA for delivering on its promise to rehabilitate this vital corridor. They described the project as transformative, improving access to markets, healthcare, and essential services, and assured all partners of full local cooperation.

Through initiatives like the Bo–Yele–Matotoka rehabilitation, RMFA continues to demonstrate its leadership in financing sustainable road maintenance and infrastructure projects across Sierra Leone.

By ensuring reliable funding, monitoring performance, and promoting community engagement, RMFA is central to the Government’s efforts to enhance transport connectivity, promote trade, and support inclusive economic growth.

RMFA funds major road works in Kenema Township

The Road Maintenance Fund Administration has commenced funding for the construction of a 6m Bridge, Rehabilitation of an 8m Bridge and a 240m embankment along combema Road in Kenema Town.This project aims at improving connectivity and safety especially during the rainy season.

Speaking at the official launch, community stakeholders and local authorities have praised RMFA for its timely intervention, noting that both bridges have over the years posed flooding and accessibility challenges in Combema community and it’s surroundings.

The RMFA Board Chairman reaffirms the institution's committement to supporting national development initiatives in line with Government agenda , he urged the community to take ownership of the project by monitoring and supporting the contractor to ensure timely completion.

RMFA's CEO assured residents that the institution will continue to complement Government efforts nationwide, adding that more projects including showfield - Maxwell Khobe street bridge among many others will soon commence .

Four-months project, being implemented by the Kenema City Council, involves bridge demolition, Reconstruction, Rehabilitation with Pedestrian walkways, Embankment and diversion to ensure access during construction.

The intervention is expected to significantly enhance access to schools , healthcare facilities,cemetery and surrounding communities , further strengthening RMFA's role in improving Sierra Leone's road infrastructure.

RMFA Funds major Road Maintenance project along Robul Junction-Mile 91

The Road Maintenance Fund Administration has commenced funding for regraveling, rehabilitation and construction of Culverts along a 52.35km stretch in Tonkolili District aimed at improving connectivity and easing transportation challenges.

The project which is being implemented through a performance-Based Contract, focuses on maintaining the road over a period of 3-year to ensure durability and reliable usability all year round.

Speaking at the official launch of the project, the Deputy CEO maintained that the project is made possible through Government Policies that prioritize sustainable road maintenance and ensure the availability of dedicated funding. He noted that RMFA in collaboration with SLRA will closely monitor the project to ensure strict compliance with performance standards as set out in the Performance-Based Contract.

The Contract has been awarded to the Sierra Leone Armed Forces Engineering Company, which has committed to delivering the project with discipline, integrity and professionalism. The contractor (RSLAF Engineering.Co) will also be responsible for resolving emergencies such as flooding and fallen trees within the shortest possible time.

Community leaders including Chiefs, Honorable Member of Parliament have described the project as historic and commended the Government for fulfilling such a promise. They assured stakeholders of community support to protect and sustain the investment.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA), Mohamed Kallon, led a team of engineers on a site monitoring tour of RMFA’s funded projects in Kailahun and Moyamba Districts. The visit reaffirmed Government’s commitment to quality assurance, accountability, and value for money in road maintenance works.

As part of its mandate to support Government’s infrastructure development agenda, RMFA continues to enhance access to remote communities and strengthen national connectivity.
