International Women's Day - a day to celebrate the magic that women bring to our lives. From the quiet strength that inspires us to the fierce determination that changes the game, women are the heartbeat of progress.
Whether it's moms who nurture, leaders who pave the way, or everyday heroes who lift others up, women are the force that makes the world turn. Their resilience, compassion, and brilliance shape our communities, drive innovation, and remind us of what's possible.
To every woman out there: your voice matters, your dreams are valid, and your impact is immeasurable. You've faced challenges, broken barriers, and kept pushing forward - and that's something to be incredibly proud of.
Let's use today to speak up, uplift, support, and celebrate each other. Share your stories, amplify each other's voices, and let's keep shining brighter together.
Happy International Women's Day, everyone!

Her voice Karene District is overflowing with gratitude for the amazing support from the Embassy of Iceland in Freetown ๐ฎ๐ธ, UNFPA Sierra Leone , The Girl Generation, and HAPPY Kids & Adolescents Sierra Leone . ๐
Our Executive Director, Mariama Mayealie Kamara, was part of the transformative Survivor Leadership Training, empowering 27 FGM survivors from Falaba, Karene, and Koinadugu districts to lead the movement! This training has equipped them with advocacy tools and knowledge to drive change in their communities.
We're inspired by these survivors' resilience and wisdom! Together, we're making the fight against FGM survivor-led and locally anchored in Karene District and Sierra Leone.

Our Executive Director Mariama Mayealie Kamara was honored to join the panel at the _Stakeholders Consultation on Harmful Practices_ commemorating the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM). The event, supported by UNFPA with funding from the Embassy of Iceland in Freetown and implemented by HAPPY Kids & Adolescents Sierra Leone , brought together advocates and survivors fighting for bodily autonomy and communityโled change.
She was asked to discuss on the question, โWe often talk about survivors rather than with them. In your experience, what are the biggest barriers that prevent survivors from taking a leading role in national advocacy?"
Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this great fight, together we can create a world free from all forms of violence against women and girls.

Today, February 6, we observe International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).
In Sierra Leone and beyond, FGM robs girls of their childhood, health, and dignity. It's time to stand together against this harmful practice.
"Salone can't move forward if FGM holds girls back" . Let's choose dignity over silence, courage over fear, and life over harmful tradition.
A girl should never have to bleed to belong. Her body is not a ceremony. Her pain is not a requirement. Her future matters .
