: KAALO has successfully concluded a training initiative engaging influential youth as social media change agents in Garowe, with a strong focus on addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).
The initiative equipped young participants with critical knowledge on GBV and FGM, alongside practical digital advocacy skills to develop culturally sensitive and impactful content. Through their online platforms, the youth are actively raising awareness, challenging harmful social norms, and fostering open dialogue among their peers.
KAALO remains committed to empowering youth as agents of change and advancing community-driven efforts to address GBV and FGM across Puntland.

: KAALO convened a joint meeting with the Ministry of Energy, Minerals and Water at ministry headquarters in Garowe to officially launch a new WASH Program in Puntland.
The project, funded by DPA, aims to enhance access to safe water and improve sanitation services, contributing to broader efforts to strengthen WASH outcomes in Somalia.
The meeting was chaired by the Director-General of the ministry, who underscored the importance of effective coordination and strategic implementation to ensure the project delivers a sustainable impact. Discussions focused on practical approaches in improving access to safe water and advancing sanitation services for underserved communities.
The meeting brought together senior staff from the Ministry and KAALO, reflecting a strong partnership and shared commitment to addressing critical water and sanitation challenges in the region.
During the session, the Director-General commended KAALO for its continued commitment and impactful contributions toward improving WASH conditions in Puntland.

In early March, KAALO responded to the worsening drought with urgent life-saving assistance providing clean water to 964 drought-affected households and distributing essential non-food items (NFI) including dignity kits to 800 households. In addition 1,300 vulnerable households received unconditional cash support to enable families to meet their needs with dignity.
With the generous support of NCA, this intervention is helping to restore hope, strengthen resilience, and ensure communities can access the resources they need to survive and recover.

: BRCiS III Project Close-Out and Handover.
A close-out event for the BRCiS III project was held in Garowe, featuring a presentation of achievements and the handover of infrastructure to the government.
The event was attended by government officials, line ministries, mayors from Galkacyo and Jariiban, civil society, and resilience program partners in Puntland.

: In collaboration with the MOIFAD, the presentation of the Local Government Development Fund (LGDF) Policy and its alignment with the Puntland Development Fund (PDF) was successfully conducted.
As a key action point, the Ministry nominated a joint technical team to work closely with the ASAL team, which is currently developing the Puntland Development Fund.
The team will focus on identifying areas of alignment between the two frameworks and exploring how they can be integrated, ensuring that local governments have a dedicated window within the PDF policy.
