Somalia is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities in addressing the refugee crisis and internal displacement, as evidenced by its active participation in international meetings and its leadership role in the GRF refugee conference.

The Somali government's dedication to upholding international refugee laws and human rights displays its commitment to finding solutions for the refugee crisis, and it also highlights the need for collaboration and shared responsibility among regional countries and the wider world.

Somalia's representation at the world refugee conference not only showcases its efforts in responding to the refugee crisis but also demonstrates its solidarity with other nations dealing with similar challenges.

Here is Farah Afi, near Beletwein Ariport, where more IDPs are displaced. The situation is very extreme; people have run their places without having anything, and now they are facing a lack of shelter, water, and food as well.

"During the day, the sun burns us, while at night it is cold and rainy, as well as mosquitoes, which we can't manage," said one of the IDPs.

Our message was sent to all Humaitarin agencies to reach out to those who are mostly vulnerable.

Farah Afi Place is near Beletwein Airport and is one of the displacement areas that relocated IDP Comps. Now it's seeming overcrowded; although there are other places, Farah Afi is the biggest one where IDPs are located.

Attention everyone in the Beledweyne community! As we move to high-level ground to prepare for the potential flood, it's important to remember our vulnerable brothers and sisters in the IDP camps. They are already facing difficult situations and the rising water levels only adds to their challenges. Let's come together as a community to support and protect those who are most at risk. If you can, please consider donating supplies or volunteering your time to help those in need. Together, we can weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side. Stay safe, everyone.

It has been raining in Beletwein town and surrounding areas for the last few days; as a result, the most affected population is the IDP camps, for two reasons.
1: They are near the Shabelle River.
2: Because their shelters are made of plastic sheets, they can't withstand wave rain.

Urgent Humanitarian Assistance Needed in Beledweyne Following Devastating Floods

The recent floods in Beledweyne have wreaked havoc on the lives of local people, particularly those residing in internally displaced persons (IDPs) communities. The resulting damages and displacement have put these vulnerable groups in dire need of immediate assistance. The Hirshabelle Commission for Refugees & IDPs has issued an urgent appeal to the United Nations and other humanitarian agencies to step in and provide much-needed support in the affected areas.

Overview of the Situation:
The recent floods in Beledweyne, Jowhar, and Balcad, located in the Hirshabelle state of Somalia, have caused extensive damage to infrastructure and displaced a significant number of residents, particularly IDPs. The combination of heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers led to a sudden and severe flooding, leaving thousands homeless and vulnerable to diseases, hunger, and trauma.

Impact on Local People:
The floods have rendered many families homeless, forcing them to seek shelter in overcrowded makeshift camps or to live in open spaces with minimal protection from the elements. As a result, their safety, health, and well-being are at great risk. Additionally, the destruction of essential infrastructure such as homes, schools, and healthcare facilities has severely hampered access to basic amenities, exacerbating the already dire situation.

Urgent Appeal for Assistance:
In light of these catastrophic circumstances, the Hirshabelle Commission for Refugees & IDPs is urgently appealing to the international community, specifically the United Nations and other humanitarian agencies, to provide immediate assistance to the affected people in Beledweyne, Jowhar, and Balcad. The provision of essential supplies such as food, clean water, hygiene kits, and emergency medical assistance is critical in order to prevent further loss of life and mitigate the long-term impacts of the floods.

The Hirshabelle Commission emphasizes that time is of the essence, as delays in response could aggravate the situation, potentially leading to the outbreak of water-borne diseases and a greater loss of life. Effective coordination between local authorities and humanitarian agencies is vital to ensure that aid is delivered promptly and reaches those most in need.

Collaboration and Support:
To address this pressing issue, the Hirshabelle Commission for Refugees & IDPs requests the immediate support and collaboration of the following entities:

1. Villa Somalia
2. OPM Somalia
3. Moifar - The Ministry of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation.
4. UNHCR Somalia
5. IOM Somalia
6. World Food Programme

Conclusion:
The recent floods in Beledweyne have caused immense damage to the local population, particularly the already vulnerable IDPs. Urgent assistance is required to provide relief, support, and rehabilitation to the affected communities, preventing further loss of life and mitigating the long-term consequences of the floods. Collaboration between the Hirshabelle Commission for Refugees & IDPs and international humanitarian agencies is essential to ensure effective and timely delivery of aid to those in need. It is hoped that the international community will respond swiftly to this urgent appeal and alleviate the suffering of the affected people in Beledweyne and surrounding areas.

Was a two-day brainstorming, profitable, and lesson-learned meeting held in Somalia's Jubland state from September 20th to September 21st, 2023.

The meeting's agenda focused on collaborative efforts to eliminate displacement in Somalia through Drouble Solution projects.

The Hirshabelle Commission for Refugees and the IDPS agency presented drouble solutions to displacement and why it is significant to have drouble solution programs as a commission.

Finally, all participants, including representatives from five states, the federal government, and other organizations, agreed that the initiative of a drouble solution is the only way to restore displaced persons to a long-term solution.
